Built 3.03, can't get searchable PDF output working

I am certain I am missing something obvious, can't seem to find it in docs.

$ tesseract -v
tesseract 3.03.00
leptonica-1.70
libjpeg 6b : libpng 1.2.49 : libtiff 3.9.4 : zlib 1.2.3

My goal is to be able to build a PDF using

$ tesseract -l eng foo.png out pdf
read_params_file: Can't open pdf

Did I miss an obvious document or build step?

"pdf" is config file (part of tesseract), so your tesseract 3.03 installation is not correct.

Thank you -- I had my environmental variable pointing to my tesseract
3.02 tessdata.

3.03 language datafiles were not released yet, so you can copy new config files to 3.02 tessdata...
