Can't run / process images on Mac

I can't code nor program so please be very precise and step-by-step in your answers. Thanks.

I need an accurate OCR prosess to transcribe danish / norwegian fraktur.

I installed tesseract via homebrew.

I placed the file dan_frak.traineddata in usr/local/cellar/tesseract/4.1.0/share/tessdata

Running Mac Os 10.15

Command tesseract -v gives me the following:

tesseract 4.1.0

 leptonica-1.78.0

  libgif 5.2.1 : libjpeg 9c : libpng 1.6.37 : libtiff 4.1.0 : zlib 1.2.11 : libwebp 1.0.3 : libopenjp2 2.3.1

 Found AVX2

 Found AVX

 Found SSE

Commands like the following don't work:

 tesseract whatever.fileformat out

tesseract whatever.fileformat out -l dan_frak

I'm getting the following error message

Error, cannot read input file whatever.fileformat: No such file or directory
Error during processing.

I tried .jpeg, jpg, tif, tiff, png.

I am surely doing something wrong, but the tutos are very superficial and don't explain at all were the source files should be and so on.

IMO error message is clear enough:

Error, cannot read input file whatever.fileformat: No such file or directory
