URL support in 4.1.1

to tesseract-ocr

Hi all,

I've upgraded to 4.11 and according to release notes this version should support OCR from URL location.

But when I try:

tesseract https://image.ibb.co/eibzaT/test.png result

I get:

Tesseract Open Source OCR Engine v4.1.1 with Leptonica

Error, this tesseract has no URL support

Error during processing.

➜ ~ tesseract --version

tesseract 4.1.1

leptonica-1.79.0

libgif 5.1.4 : libjpeg 8d (libjpeg-turbo 2.0.3) : libpng 1.6.37 : libtiff 4.1.0 : zlib 1.2.11 : libwebp 0.6.1 : libopenjp2 2.3.1

I also tried 5.0.0 with no luck

Is URL support really there? Or am I doing something wrong?

Your tesseract build has no support for curl library => no support for url...

"Correct" output would be like this:

Thanks for the answer but I don't really understand how is it possible. Why there are incomplete binaries published? Is there a way I could make it work?

It is packager/buillder decision which features will be allowed. If you do not like it, compile it by yourself.
It is free and opensource code.
