New issue 1394 by timothyd...@gmail.com: Does not correctly scan OCR-A
https://code.google.com/p/tesseract-ocr/issues/detail?id=1394

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Produce a TIFF of OCR-A text (using the
http://sourceforge.net/projects/ocr-a-font/ )
2. $ tesseract page_1.tif out.txt
3. $ vim out.txt.txt

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Something highly similar to exact text

Something that looks like the exact text

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

3.02 from source + English language pack.

Please provide any additional information below.

I find it odd that an OCR tool can have such difficulty reading a font that
is internationally adopted from an ANSI specification and designed for
machine readability. A scanned character that measures some 90 pixels tall
by 60 wide, I would figure would have enough detail.

Invalid? Says who? This is a perfectly valid problem. You would expect an
OCR software to read an OCR font.

Oh never mind...
