Im not asking for a personal opinion of pre-1.9 pvp or post-1.9 pvp. I just wanna know why 1.8.9 is better for servers than to use the latest version if it makes the attack cooldown non-existant anyway?

The cooldown, sword blocking and other changes are the only reason PVP players care about 1.8.9, it's not the performance or other benefits I think 'as' much but it could be a factor due to how much bigger Minecraft is now and how performance has changed across versions I guess.

Tipped Arrows, elytra and other benefits I think would add to the PVP experience for more weapon, navigation and other opportunities but that's just me. I know spam clicking is the way to go but for other options it just makes sense for projectiles/travel besides how servers tweak things.

Well, I just want to say 1.8.9 pvp is not good, but 1.9+ isn't any better in my opinion. I prefer to pvp in 1.8.9. If you use 1.16 to pvp in a 1.8.9, then a lot of bugs will occur. (Such as hit registration.) 1.8.9 is optimized for 1.8.9 servers.

So this doesn't happen with 1.15.2 forge which I've had for a while, but whenever i try to load 1.8.9 forge, it loads for a bit then crashes, below is the crash report, I've got the latest version of java, and I haven't had a chance to load it yet so i don't think there are any mods installed, i theorize that it is just because I have a bad laptop, but I want to check nonetheless

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.

TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.

Why do I still play in 1.6.4?

I'm trying to make a resource pack for the Hypixel Network's Skyblock gamemode, where they have hundreds of custom items. Many people including me are making large resource packs to assign custom textures to these items and differentiate between them more easily.

Some of the swords used aren't actually swords at all, for example the Emerald Blade is an actual emerald. When I try to apply my texture it works perfectly fine in first person and in the inventory, but in 3rd person it looks odd. Rather than the player gripping the sword like normal, they are holding it like an item.

Is there a way to edit the item model? I can steal the required JSON from Minecraft's code, but I'm not able to get the sword's properties file to sense my model.json file at all. I tested it by scaling up the model by 2 in the 3rd person and nothing changed.

A while ago, OptiFine introduced the mcpatcher code base into its own mod, which is where the concepts of CIT/CEM/CTM originated. At this point in time, it was almost a 1-1 match, so even the file structure remained the same (which is so in the case of 1.8.9). In later releases, OptiFine edited their code and relocated the file structure entirely to the OptiFine subdirectory. To apply a custom item texture in an earlier version, create an "mcpatcher" directory (under assets/minecraft) instead of OptiFine and locate your cit subdirectory there.

Edit: I was having a lot of problems with getting the display properties in particular to work with 1.8.9 models. If anyone is in a similar situation, instead of manually editing the JSON files or hoping that a program like Cubik Pro you can download this mod and tweak the display properties in-game, then edit the JSON files with their values. Their download links don't work, but here is a working download from mediafire.

Upon doing a bit more research, I learned that OptiFine only began supporting custom item models in 2017, which was after the release of 1.9 when OptiFine stopped updating their 1.8.9 version. I'll just have to live with it.

Installation Manager versions are released as both fix packs and installer packages.Use the installer packages when you are installing Installation Manager for the first time.Use the fix pack or the installer packages when you are updating Installation Manager.

The fix pack package is significantly larger than the platform specific installer packages. If you are updating Installation Manager on one platform, consider using the installer package, agent.installer.platform_version, to update Installation Manager.

Regression: An error in the Maintenance Delivery Vehicle (MDV) that produces incorrect or unexpected behavior causing a supported feature to stop functioning as designed.

This includes:Coding errors that cause a regressionDocumentation or packaging problems that cause a regressionErrors reported in a new function delivered in a MDV that cause a regression

Incomplete: An error in the MDV has not regressed, but does not work as designed.

This includes:Fixed APARs which did not solve the original problem but did not break anything newAPARs reporting documentation errors, such as readme errors, that cause problems applying an MDV but do not lead to a regression

Note: Selecting the FC link takes you to IBM Fix Central. You will be presented with two or more downloads of varying sizes. At minimum, you will see the Installer and Fix Pack download and more downloads if there are hardware variants. In Fix Central, the agent.installer.platform.zip file is referred to as a refresh pack and as a fix. You can use this file to install Installation Manager. You can also use this file to update Installation Manager from an earlier version.

In my build I use the Groovy class ConfigSlurper. With Java 8 I run into issues with the ConfigSlurper class. I may have located the issue. The issue have been fixed as of Groovy 1.8.9 and I would suggest that the Groovy version distributed with Gradle is upgraded from its current 1.8.6 version.

Hi, 1.8.9 only contained minor behind-the-scenes changes that did not make it to the changelog. We are currently working on getting the next release out soon, which will contain bug fixes and other additions as expected.
