This news is encouraging... But couple of issues.. At most, the service plaza would only have one DC fast charger, the chance that it is being used when you needed it is high. It would be better if they put in two DC fast chargers. So far in the service plazas on PA turnpike they installed two level 2 charges (who wants to sit there for 1 HR just to get 18 miles??) and only one DC fast charger.
Second, they are charging $0.59 per kwh.. this equates to $25 just to fill half of an 85kwh pack, and full charge is almost $50. Seriously??? Mind as well drive your ICE...
Third, these DC fast chargers are only 50 kw units, which will charge at less than half the speed as the supercharger.
Lastly, these DC chargers are not guarantee to work either.. as my experience 3 months ago using a chademo DC fast charging station near Catskills off of i80. The maintenance and reliability of these chargers are VERY POOR, and CAN NOT be trusted is my conclusion. You better have a Plan B if the DC fast charger doesn't work.
It is very obvious that the PA Turnpike has the same type of cronies like our NJ turnpike authority.. They flat out refuse to partner with Tesla to add superchargers in the service plazas. But would partner with someone else that probably offer than better kick back or something along that line...

We might want to start pushing Tesla harder to expedite the build out along I-80 as a much less expensive alternative to the PA Tpke tolls and the relatively slow, expensive and unreliable ChaeDemo chargers. This might also be used as leverage to get the PA Tpke Authority to allow Tesla SC's as they would be losing the toll revenues if we all use I-80 instead.
On a related issue, Tesla seems to be moving fast building the SC's on I-81 through VA and NC.
