I had an experience this morning when a very nice Tesla mobile service person came to my house to rotate the tires on my 2024 Model 3.
Since it was raining, I volunteered to move my wife's Lexus out of the garage so that he would have more space to work. He was grateful and agreed that would be helpful. My car was in the driveway, not far from the garage.
The garage door was open. As I backed to my wife's car out of the garage, he backed up my Tesla at the same time. As a result, the home link on my Tesla started to close the garage door on the Lexus as I was backing out. This hit and loosened the back wiper cover on the back of my wife's car.
He apologized profusely, and I asked him to talk to his boss to see if possibly we could share the cost of having this piece reattached. There were probably some clips broken off. A few minutes ago, he called me back and said Tesla would not do anything about it.
My wife, of course, is of the belief that Tesla should pay for at least half of this. Tesla disagrees and says they won't pay for anything. I am ambivalent, since even though the garage door was wide open as I was backing out, and I had no way to know that the garage door was coming down, he also probably had no reason to believe that backing up the car would start to close the garage door.
What do you think?
