SCHOOL OF EDUCATION
The School of Education at Bishop's University is seeking candidates for tenure stream appointments in teacher education at the level of assistant professor for the 2011-2012 academic year. These positions are subject to budgetary approval.
Our School of Education offers programs in elementary and secondary teacher education and a part-time Master's of Education. As an English school of education in Quebec, we interact with the Anglophone school boards across the province in supporting our students in their practicum experience.
In the School's ongoing development of teacher education programs that increasingly promote construction of professional identity and education for sustainability and that result in graduating teachers with a strong foundation in leadership, equity and critical and reflective stances on educational issues, we are looking for faculty members with not only specific expertise in a teaching and research area but also a generalist background allowing them to contribute to the teaching of additional foundational or methodology courses and the supervision of students in their practicum placements. We are therefore interested in candidates who are able to address a wide range of areas in their teaching, have a completed Ph.D. and a demonstrated record of scholarship or research potential, possess school experience and are willing to participate fully in the collaborative development of a strong teacher education program by our faculty.
The two positions available are the following:
Ability to interact with school personnel in French, while not essential, is desirable.
Interested candidates should submit a letter of application, a CV, a teaching dossier, evidence of research activity and names of three referees to:
