University of Northern British Columbia
Continuing and English Studies Manager
Prince George, BC

The University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC) aspires to be Canada's premier small, research-intensive university, with internationally recognized academic and research programs that prepare its graduates in select areas of relevance to the region, province, and beyond. The University has garnered significant recognition for its successes, including being ranked third in the primarily undergraduate category in the annual Maclean's Magazine survey, best small university in western Canada and most recently tying for first place with Harvard for the best campus sustainability.

With a diverse range of program offerings from leading experts in the field, Continuing Studies at UNBC offers courses that range from one day workshops to full semester long programs of study. English Language Studies offers classes and customized learning programs primarily to students from outside Canada who are seeking admission to a Canadian University.

The opportunity now exists for a Continuing and English Language Studies Manager to join the UNBC team and provide leadership and overall direction to the Continuing & English Language Studies Programs. The new Manager will take responsibility for the planning, development and implementation of strategic directions, administration and delivery of general interest and credit eligible courses, direct the operational, financial and planning activities for departmental budget as well as develop strategies to support a responsive, accurate, efficient and integrated program through revenue generation, a major component of operational costs, while contributing financially to the University.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced English Language Studies specialist who excels at leadership and motivating others in a collaborative academic environment.

The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated track record of exceptional management and program development in Adult Education, and the ability to evaluate, design, and implement curriculum, testing and/or teaching methodologies. He or she will possess a graduate degree in a relevant discipline, TESOL certification and three to five years of experience in Adult Education and teaching English as a Second Language.
