NetApp solutions for virtual infrastructure management integrate with VMware vCenter to provide end-to-end lifecycle management for virtual machines (VMs) in VMware environments that use NetApp storage systems. Visibility into the NetApp storage environment from within the vCenter console lets administrators easily perform tasks that improve both server and storage efficiency.

The NetApp SolidFire VMware vCenter plug-in helps you harness the capabilities of the SolidFire storage platform from within the vCenter environment. It delivers deep integration, end-to-end Quality of Service, automatic storage performance allocation, and simplified management.

Customers with existing NetApp products will have their NSS account leveled-up to Customer Level access within one business day. Customers new to NetApp will be onboarded using standard business practices, in addition to having their NSS account leveled-up to Customer Level access. Providing the File System ID will help expedite this process. You can check the status of your NSS account by logging into mysupport.netapp.com and navigating to the Welcome page. The access level of your account should be Customer Access.

NetApp BlueXP is a unified control plane that simplifies management experiences for storage and data services across on-premises and cloud environments. BlueXP provides a centralized user interface to manage, monitor, and automate ONTAP deployments in AWS and on premises. For more information, see the NetApp BlueXP documentation and the NetApp BlueXP for Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP documentation.

You can run NetApp ONTAP CLI commands on your FSx for ONTAP file system, analogous to running them on a NetApp ONTAP cluster. You access the NetApp ONTAP CLI on your file system by establishing a secure shell (SSH) connection to the file system's management endpoint. You use the fsxadmin password you created when you created the file system to log in. You can find the file system's management endpoint DNS name and IP address in the Amazon FSx console, in the Administration tab of the FSx for ONTAP file system details page, shown in the following graphic.

To connect to the file system's management endpoint with SSH, use the user fsxadmin and the password that you set when you created the file system. You can SSH into the file system from a client that is in the same VPC as the file system, using the management endpoint IP address or DNS name.

You can run NetApp ONTAP CLI commands on your FSx for ONTAP SVM by establishing a secure shell (SSH) connection to the SVM's management endpoint. You can use the fsxadmin user name and password you created on the SVM's file system, or the vsadmin user name and password, if you specified one when you created the SVM. You can find the SVM's management endpoint DNS name and IP address in the Amazon FSx console, in the Endpoints panel of the Storage virtual machines details page, shown in the following graphic.

To connect to the SVM's management endpoint with SSH, use user name vsadmin and the vsadmin password that you set when you created the SVM. If you did not set a vsadmin password, use user name fsxadmin and the fsxadmin password. You can SSH into the SVM from a client that is in the same VPC as the file system, using the management endpoint IP address or DNS name.

FSx for ONTAP is a new managed file and block storage service that provides advanced data management capabilities. FSx for ONTAP gives engineering teams more flexibility to solve complex cloud challenges and support existing architectures in hybrid and multicloud environments.

This service is a perfect way for existing NetApp ONTAP users to step into the cloud, and for AWS users to gain more flexibility over their storage operations with the full complement of NetApp data management capabilities.

If this is the first time you are provisioning a new FSx for ONTAP environment, you will need to provide AWS IAM credentials with permissions to allow the deployment and management of the AWS resources needed.

4.2 Because a subnet is bound to a specific availability zone, in multi-AZ deployments virtual floating IP addresses (for management and NFS/SMB) are used. These will always be reachable as defined entry points, to facilitate seamless failover and failback in case of AZ failures.

Currently, only NFS volumes can be created through BlueXP Console. SMB support in BlueXP Console will be available next month, upon the next release. Meanwhile, SMB volumes can be created through the AWS console or directly through AWS/ONTAP CLI.

9.2 Since FSx for ONTAP is a fully native AWS service, you can also validate the deployment through the AWS management tools such as the AWS console. Your newly created volume can be taken into use right away using the protocol defined for it (NFS, SMB, iSCSI) from the supported AWS compute, containers and end-user-computing services integrations such as EC2, EKS, Workspaces, etc.

3. NetApp Cloud Backup Service for long-term data protection. Unlike Nasuni, which provides unlimited snapshots that eliminate the need for separate backup infrastructure, NetApp Cloud Volumes ONTAP still requires backup for recoveries to any point in time beyond its snapshot limit.

4. NetApp Global File Cache (formerly Talon) consoles to provide local file access and synchronization at on-premises locations. First is the Global File Cache Core Instance, which provides control path services for the Global File Cache Edge Instances. Unlike the Nasuni Orchestration Center (NOC), a SaaS control path built on scalable cloud services that is paid for and maintained by Nasuni and that requires no administration, the Global File Cache Core Instance requires a Windows Server that must be deployed, patched, managed, and configured for every 10 Edge Instances.

The expectations for simplified management and consumption drive the market, especially among IT buyers. But they can also bring integration challenges when attempting to make diverse products, even from the same vendor, Evans said.

Roping its storage products under one console and offering it as free service should help NetApp eliminate market confusion and repetition common among traditional enterprise vendors, according to Naveen Chhabra, an analyst at Forrester Research.

This blog post explores the key benefits of this solution and how it improves risk management, reduces recovery costs, and helps businesses meet compliance requirements. It also covers initial steps for setting up Threat Detection for NetApp.

Threat Detection for NetApp communicates directly with the SentinelOne management console. Unlike alternative endpoint security solutions, SentinelOne allows customers to manage storage security alongside the rest of their user endpoints and cloud workloads and achieve a seamless, intuitive security management experience without the administrative overhead of additional console components. No learning curve is required.

Initial setup of Threat Detection for NetApp assumes familiarity with NetApp network management concepts such as Vscan, logical interface (LIF), and storage virtual machine (SVM). For more details, consult the NetApp ONTAP documentation and work closely with a NetApp system administrator.

Along with the other solutions within the Singularity Platform, Threat Detection for NetApp combines high performance with intuitive administration. From threats and mitigation actions, to exclusions, blocklists, agent management and more, Singularity users can expect the same trusted capabilities that now support NetApp storage arrays too. To help save time, Threat Detection for NetApp respects existing user block lists or exclusions that are already configured, removing the burden of rebuilding them again.

Analysts can just as easily unquarantine files with a single click in the console via Actions > Unquarantine. This will return the file to its original location and remove its associated quarantine restrictions. Should the analyst choose, they can just as easily add an Exclusion to prevent scanning of this file in the future via Actions > Add To Exclusions.

Unlike lesser alternatives, Threat Detection for NetApp goes beyond signature-based AV that is easily evaded, and uses the power of AI to examine files and protect organizations from advanced threats. From a single management console, machine-speed performance, and autonomous mitigation, SentinelOne continues to deliver adaptive cybersecurity across hybrid cloud footprints.

Your next task is to define your SAML IdP within the NetApp ONTAP System Manager. You must obtain the URI to your VMware Identity Manager SAML IdP metadata to get started. Obtain this URI by logging into the VMware Identity Manager admin console at the URL Click on the CATALOG tab at the top of the user interface, then click the SETTINGS button.

NetApp OnCommand API Services provides a way for IT organizations to address today's complex IT management challenges. It enables IT organizations to have a single view of their entire infrastructure, while still having the ability to use vendor-provided tools on an as-needed basis to troubleshoot a specific issue associated with that infrastructure component.

Recognizing that numerous management tools are likely unavoidable in most IT organizations, the logical approach is to integrate the disparate tools as much as possible. OnCommand API Services lets you integrate and simplify storage management by exposing Representation State Transfer (REST) APIs and enabling third-party infrastructure-monitoring tools to monitor and manage NetApp storage. Today, OnCommand API Services works with OnCommand Unified Manager and OnCommand Performance Manager to provide active monitoring and reporting of your clustered Data ONTAP environment. OnCommand API Services provides a single endpoint across your data center, enabling data collection from multiple Unified Manager and Performance Manager servers managing one or more clusters.
