I am really new to Batocera and I am really liking it and it works fine for my SNES, Playstation, and N64 roms and its really easy to use as well. I used the same procedure of adding unzipped roms for Dreamcast to my roms folder, it gets detected by the emulator and all the games get reflected on the list under Dreamcast. The problem is that every time I try to start a dreamcast game, I get a fading black screen as if the game is about to start but then comes back to the list and nothing ever starts. Is there something that needs to be changed or if the roms need to be modified in certain way so as to make them work with the emulator. I have checked the unzipped folder of the roms and all of them have .bin and .gdi files in them.
I have downoaded few dremcasr roms from various website and put them in the /shares/bios folder and tested.. but it still doesnt make the games work. Is there any specific bios files that i should be looking for?
I am aware that you cannot share the bios link here but it would be great if you can tell me which hash rates I should follow for the dc_boot and dc_flash, as there are few other hash rates available online.. I have tried various combinations but still not able to start the roms under dreamcast.
Yes I am using these two files in my bios folder as dc_boot and dc_flash, but still the roms ain't working. I have the following files in my bios folder. Kindly let me know if something looks wrong in there.
ANYWAY. Here are two popular sites for BIOS, with some caveats:Retropacks
This was the first one i downloaded from in a rush, and it had everything I needed. However its a little too everything. One of the reasons the Retropacks BIOS dump is so dang big is because it includes an additional compressed folder called mame2003plus.zip (500MB+), that has the emulator core for old stand-up arcade systems, "with an emphasis on high performance and broad compatibility on mobile [and other] devices". I dont think im going to use it, but if youre interested, here are the arcade games it can playIn addition, upon revisiting the site and looking around, it just seems slightly suss. Like, it doesnt seem to be created by actual gamers, or humans for that matter. It's more like an amalgamation of links intended to get people over to amazon and buying stuff through their affiliate links. This was also before I saw the light when it comes to Internet Archive and safety. That being said, a security check only alerts to a few trackers on the site, that are both google products for running ads, so at least from a security level, a site like buzzfeed is far more menacing than this one.
Drag it to your desktop so you have this list handy when youre grabbing files.
(This is a screenshot taken from RetroGameCorp's Retroid Pocket Starter Guide, so there wouldn't be any mistakes) NOTE: you will have to rename the Dreamcast file to "boot.bin"WHAT YOUR BIOS FOLDER SHOULD LOOK LIKE
No matter which option you choose, when you're done, your BIOS folder should end up looking something like this, with separate folders for Dreamcast and PS2, and the rest of the other BIOS files chillin together.
(Incidentally, this is the list of files included in my BIOS kickstarter pack, if you choose Option 3.)OPTION 1RETROPACKSLink: romspack.com/retroarch-bios-pack/Scroll down and click the zip option. you can save it to your desktop or an external harddrive, but dont put it in your BIOS folder, you only want to drag the files youre going to use on your Retroid in that folder. After you unpack/unzip it, theres gonna be a whole mass of files, search around for the files shown in the list you just saved (in the box above with the flashing arrows). For Dreamcast, make sure you grab the file called "dc_boot.bin", which is in the DC folder
Drag it to a new folder (inside your BIOS folder) named DC or Dreamcast and rename the file to "boot.bin"For PS2, look inside the folder called pcsx2, go to bios, and scroll down to the bottom where most of them should be. Make a new folder called PS2 or Playstation2 inside your BIOS folder and drag those inside. Remember, there is also a .DIFF file with the same name that is on the list, though it may not be 100% crucial, you might as well grab it. Depending on how youre files are organized (view by name, by kind, etc) it might be in a different place in the same pcsx2/bios/ folder.
The rest of the files you will be able to find in the main 'system' folder and will go directly into your BIOS folder. The ones shown here are for SegaCD, check through the list to make sure you have all the ones you need/want. And remember not all consoles need bios, like regular Nintendo or N64OPTION 2Internet ArchiveLinks:
Ah, the Sega Dreamcast. Sega's last console which was in many ways ahead of its time. I did buy a Dreamcast on launch day and while the games that shipped on that day where anything but great, the console itself saw some great releases over its short life span.
I'm not talking about the yearly iteration of EA's sport series, or the latest blockbuster Call of Duty or Battlefield games, but original games that were only released for that system or released for it first, or in the best available version of them all.
If you want to replay some of those games, or start to play them anew, you may buy a Dreamcast on a marketplace like eBay. If you do not have enough storage, or want something for on the go, you may want to try an emulator instead.
Reicast is a Dreamcast emulator for Android. The developers consider it alpha in its current stage, which means that bugs, performance and stability issues, and other issues are to be expected at this stage in development.
Once you got the Bios files, you need to place the dc_boot.bin and dc_flash.bin files in the folder dc/data that you create on your phone. The emulator will display an error message if the files are not present and quit afterwards.
What you also need are game roms that you can also dump from the Dreamcast. A thread on Neogaf confirms that several games are working, albeit with glitches. Among them are Soul Calibur and Daytone 2001 or Sonic Adventures.
The costs of getting involved -- legally -- may be quite high for some, as you need a Dreamcast console to dump the BIOS and the game Roms that you need to dump from the original game discs. Still, it may be worth it if you want to play Dreamcast games on your Android device.
Got the bios good. But i downloaded crazy taxi 2 and everytime i try and open it in reicast it vibrates and kicks me out of reicast. What kind of file name should it be . Do i need to rename file . Also i have it saved under downloads should it be under something else . So confused been trying for hours. Keep in mind this is my first time. I got this far learning online but cant figure this out. Is itpossible craxy taxi 2 just isnt working yet?
