The same happens with Garmin Explore. If you have the Garmin Explore app installed and you use any browser to access web version of garmin explore, the browser opens the mobile app just after the login form.
On my phone if I visit with chrome or any other browser, I see the login web page but after having typed user and password the browser open the Connect mobile app. So haven't the additional features of Web.
