Does anybody know this? I found it on YouTube and downloaded it. It looks fantastic.
Runtime: 2 hours 32 minutes. This is probably the closest thing we will ever have to a Director's Cut. VulturalWell-known member

This might give an idea of what was cut.
An alternate opening with 20 minutes unreleased footage -

The funny thing about Prometheus is most people think just about every deleted scene being put back in makes the movie better. The hard part seems to be what should be cut out from the main movie to make you not hate the characters.
If you're curious about this particular edit, It has all the stuff that Vultural posted in the beginning but does not include the crew physical testing part. VulturalWell-known member

I found the crew fitness footage boring and unnecessary as well, and was glad it was jettisoned.
Might be in the credits, though. TMBTMWell-known member

The real deleted scenes are the ones under the name "deleted scenes" on the bluray, the rest is just promotional footage that was never meant to be in the movie.
The TED speach is not even directed by Ridley Scott but by his son as far as I know.
The training scenes were part of the internet promo for the movie (along with many others), etc. VulturalWell-known member

So I watched the whole two and a half hours of this.
Opening twenty minutes yielded the most gems, but they are all in the link in the earlier post.
After that, I started seeing all the crap in Prometheus I hated.
Millburn - Fifield - Dr Shaw's little baby, Dagon.
The training material and Weyland commercials follow the credits, where they ought to be.
I had no problem with non-Scott individuals shooting some scenes.
Second Unit crew - Third Unit crew. Most big films have those.
Another gripe, off topic, I think Peter Weyland has a history of hiring crap employees.
Think of the mistakes his people made in every installment.
You have to hire good people, awesome people, if you are a big CEO - or even President. TMBTMWell-known member

Side note:
I have no problem either putting back in the movie promotional scenes not shot by Scott, I was just emphasizing the fact that they are not jettisoned deleted scenes. MysterFixItMemberMessages15Reaction score1Trophy Points6May 31, 2017

Did you see he added tongs to Milburn's hand in his death scene? =) I thought that was a brilliant idea  I plan to add them in as well, but w/different music & removing the hissing sound. Hopefully that can make his death less annoying =P beezoWell-known member

I can't find this. Would you mind posting just a 1 minute or so segment that has this effect? Thanks. MysterFixItMemberMessages15Reaction score1Trophy Points6May 31, 2017
Yeah I will post as soon as I can. My desktop has no internet at the moment - have to wait for my man to look at it.
But that's strange that it's not there. I have the original one he made a few years back. (That was the first time I ever heard of fan editing, actually =) MysterFixItMemberMessages15Reaction score1Trophy Points6Jun 1, 2017
Well I kept getting an error message about the sound, so I left it out, but it does have a little robotic sound effect to it. Also, the aspect is wrong and the quality sucks b/c I really have no clue yet what I'm doing when I convert and export stuff, so my apologies! =P I think the glove is part of it too:

^To me, the best way to immediately improve this scene is to remove the hissing sound, and replace it with something silly or cute. Sort of like the scene in Jurassic Park when Nedry runs into that big running lizard thing. It's still an extremely stupid thing to do, but it plays a lot better if he at least takes a basic precaution (using tongs) and if the thing doesn't seem so threatening.

Took some snapshots with vlc so you could see it better (btw, is the new edit in 1080? If so that might be why he left this out - the older one is 720).

Wow, that works super well actually. I was skeptical when you mentioned it but dang. MysterFixItMemberMessages15Reaction score1Trophy Points6Jun 1, 2017
^music helps, too. I absolutely hate the score to this movie & plan on replacing as much as I can (for this scene I'll have the track from Alien when Dallas is going through the vents =)

Yeah I don't know how hard it is to do something like that, so I might just ask for permission (I was making mine in 720 anyway, b/c I need to reuse a lot of shots, but I have to make them look different, so I'm hoping cropping will do the trick). This happens to be a great 'extended' version of PROMETHEUS, and is a much more satisfying watch than the 'theatrical' cut overall.
However, the 'Workprint' version shown in that trailer is not the exact version I recently watched. Here's what I know about it -
The version in the trailer is a 'Workprint' edit by a guy called James Rivers, and while he originally included the clever 'tongs' idea to the 'hammerpede' attack, his subsequent tweaked version didn't include them as far as I know. However, it's unclear to me at the moment if he's actually intending to do a new, upgraded version in the near future, or not.
But I do know that he came up with a really neat way to incorporate Shaw's 'quiet eye' viral clip message to Weyland, using some artwork of the 'Mars base' by one of the movie's designers as an inspiration. However, the 'Workprint' version I recently downloaded which incorporated this scene, was not actually one of the versions done by James Rivers! Rather it's a slightly re-edited, smoothed-out version of his 'Workprint' which runs at approx. 2 hrs 38 mins. by a guy called 'CoalescedChaos' over at the
avpgalaxy.net forums.
But before I go any further, this CGI-ied 'Mars base' scene was quite effectively placed in-between the end of the 'torch-lit cave painting' scene and the start of the 'tiny Prometheus ship travelling through space' scene.
Here's a clip of it...but ignore the slightly 'cartoony'-looking Mars planet at the beginning, as that shot is NOT in the 'CoalescedChaos' version I watched. Instead, the 'torch-lit cave painting' scene fades away to blackness briefly, and we start to hear the sound of the initial 'Mars base' shot momentarily against the darkness, before it then appears - it's very nicely integrated into the edit, and quite atmospheric overall -
James Rivers also CGI-ied the 'Engineer's burned face
(as seen in the 'theatrical' cut footage) , so that it matched the non-burned version seen in the deleted 'Engineer vs Shaw' footage that was re-incorporated. Yet another nicely-done piece of work by him.
He's fine with 'CoalescedChaos's 'Workprint' re-edit, but as I say, it's unclear at this stage if he's intending to do another one of his own despite this, or not.
I've got my own ideas on how I want to re-edit the PROMETHEUS and ALIEN COVENANT movies for myself, but this lengthy, extended 'Workprint' certainly joins Agent 9's 'Prometheus Special Edition' as a much better watch for me in the meantime.
So I recommend you go check out the full cut-list details and info. to do with this over at
avpgalaxy.net if interested - then click on FORUM - then go to the 'Films/TV' section - then click on 'Prometheus' - then go to the 'Normal Topics' section - then finally click on the 'PROMETHEUS: Workprint Edition 2017' thread there. Hi you all. My name is James Rivers and I'm glad you liked this edition. Actually I've uploaded another version, improving the color grading and some sound effects, and added some minor edits although this version is only 2 GB in size and stereo only, so most people can download it (look for "Prometheus Workprint Edition Ver 2017" if you are interested).
Also Im working on a new edit, which will fit in a bd25 disc with menu. I have my doubts about rendering it on 1080p beacuse some of the scenes have a very poor quality, so I'm not shure. Some details (audio and video) have been improved since the last iteration (nothing fancy really) and I'll be incorporating the Prologue The crossing, which is the sequence I'm working on right now. It's somehow hard to do it because the lack of material but I think I'm getting to it.
If you ever wondered, the original edition I came up with a long time ago, was meant to condense most of the available scenes, and despite the fact that some of the sequences didnt work very well in the whole context, and some of them where redundant at some point, my true goal was to have all the possible sequences joined and fit to be watched interspliced together withe the theatrical version.
One of the missing sequences I really hope some day see the light is when Weyland's aboard the Prometheus ready to visit the juggernaut and then the Fifield attack occurs. I tried to make a reconstruction of it but it was only very incomplete.
BTW, hope I can have the bd25 edit ready for upload by fall when the Alien covenant Bluray comes out.
And of course you can use my edition as a base for your own editions!!

You're awesome Jimmy! Thank you for the Milburn Fifield scene especially, & all the other hard work with cgi, and for giving us the most complete version of this movie - still far & away my favorite edit (including the theatrical
