Territory Bro has added support for keeping track of territory assignments. You can try it out in the demo:
https://territorybro.com/congregation/demo
When returning a territory, there are two checkboxes. Normally you would keep them both checked, but there are two exceptional situations:
- If somebody took a territory but didn't have time to visit it, and now they come to return it, you can uncheck "mark the territory as covered". Then it will not be counted towards the statistics of when the territory was covered.
- Before the circuit overseer's visit, if somebody comes to mark that they've covered the territory, but they still want to keep the territory a bit longer, you can uncheck "return the territory to storage". The territory will then be marked as covered for the statistics, but the publisher will still keep the territory for themselves.

The map of all territories shows the territories in different colors based on their assignment status. Assigned territories are red, vacant are blue. The depth of the color indicates how many months they have been like that. (The map visualizations are an area of improvement for near future.)
You can sort the territories based on how long they have been assigned or vacant, or how long it has been since they've been covered. Those should cover the most common use cases of finding a territory to assign somebody, and finding overdue territories.
The congregation front page has some of the most commonly asked statistics. Since it's impossible to cover every use case, later there will be added an option to download all the territories and assignments as a spreadsheet. That way you can do any special calculations yourself.
Roadmap
One of the next features to be added, is exporting all your territories and assignments as an Excel spreadsheet. There will also be various small improvements related to territory assignments. After that, the roadmap is open.
What would you like to see next? Tagging territories (i.e. building type, whether the doors are locked etc.)? A simpler map editor? Support for non-admin users, so they can take territories as a self-service? Field service campaigns? Please contact me by email and tell me more about your needs.
Greetings,
