Recycled Polyester Prices in China (Monthly Report)
29 November 2019 - Recycled polyester prices
have more significantly dropped than virgin polyester prices in the past weeks in China, over a weakness in demand, and whatever the fall in production. The limited price advantage of recycled fibers is no more supporting demand, whereas the demand for sustainable products in the United States and in Europe has not reached the Chinese market yet. Our report covers the recycled polyester PSF and POY prices in China over the past three years. Re-PSF and Re-POY prices are compared with similar virgin fiber prices for PSF and POY prices. dropped in many categories of products in the third quarter this year, in volume terms. The fall of the euro has resulted in a rise in unit prices in euro terms, whatever efforts from suppliers to lower their U$ prices. Statistical tables are published with volume, value and unit value changes in euro and US$ terms, covering 61 and 62 HS chapters (knit and woven clothing) per category. 9 December 2019 - The raw material costs of polyester producers have risen in the past week, probably due to a rebound of crude oil prices. Over the longer term, PTA prices could be lowered further, due to a significant fall of paraxylene prices after Chinese capacities will have surged in a few years. 6 December 2019 - US apparel imports from China have plunged by 35% in dollar terms in October, from their level a year earlier, as a clear sign that the Trump Tariffs have deeply disrupted the clothing market. Other origins have been negatively affected by the radical move with imports falling from most supplying countries. The winner is not Vietnam, as widely expected, but Bangladesh, benefiting from its low-cost advantage. Our monthly review covers US
