China Yarn Prices: Domestic and Import Markets (Weekly Report)

The fall of the renminbi could boost demand for foreign yarns after the break. Prices of a large number of counts are released for spun cotton, polyester, viscose and blends. Import prices are also available for yarns from India, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Vietnam. Our report covers the price development of recycled polyester PSF and POY in China over the past 3 years. Prices are also compared with those of virgin (un-recycled) PSF and POY prices. Weekly prices as well as indices over 3-month and 3-year periods are available for download.

Inflation in Emerging Countries (Monthly Report)
28 January 2019 - Consumer prices have less significantly risen in December, in most low-cost countries, as a clear sign that economic growth is everywhere slowing down. Import prices are also under control, in line with a return to stability of domestic currencies. Our monthly report offers a comparison of inflation rates in low-cost countries, with historical data available back to June 2007. Impact of currency changes vs the US dollar, the euro and the Sterling is also calculated to assess real terms of trade for exporters.

Demand could however resist from nylon 6 processors now confronted with a slowing down textile production. Our monthly report covers the latest and long-term trends of nylon 6 (polyamide 6) prices, also displaying a vertical view of the nylon chain prices, including benzene, caprolactam, staple fibers and filament yarns. The nylon/CPL spread is also calculated for assessing gross margin trends of filament producers. Daily prices of the past 12 months are available for download.

Polyester Chain Prices: PX, PTA, MEG and Fiber Prices (Weekly Report)
18 February 2019 - Polyester intermediate prices have moved into different directions in the last days in China where PTA prices were this Monday recovering after paraxylene prices have bottomed out. Our weekly report covers the polyester chain in Asia, including PX (paraxylene), PTA (purified terephthalic acid), MEG (mono-ethylene glycol), polyester chips, and polyester staple and filament prices. Asian Contract Prices (ACPs) are also available for the PX, PTA and MEG markets in Asia, with 5-year charts and downloadable historical data.

Cotton Prices on International and Domestic Markets (Weekly Report)
18 February 2019 - Cotton prices have sharply declined at the start of last week, over bearish data from the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) and an overall drop of commodity prices. Fiber use could be depressed by the global economic slowdown and falling apparel retail sales in the United States and in Europe. Our weekly cotton report covers the international futures market in New York and China, and the physical indicator "A Index". Domestic cotton prices in China, India and Pakistan are also reviewed through a large number of tables and charts. All data are available for download.

Prices of a large number of counts are released for spun cotton, polyester, viscose and blends. Import prices are also available for yarns from India, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Vietnam. Domestic and import yarn prices are compared. All data are available for download.

Cotton and Polyester Price Comparison: China, India and Pakistan (Monthly Report)
7 May 2019 - Polyester use at yarn plants should be favored by the rise of cotton prices in the past months whereas polyester prices were staying stable. The current decline of PSF prices in China should boost demand for polyester at Chinese spinning mills. In India and Pakistan, the cotton/polyester spread has surged in the last 12 months also favoring PSF use. Our monthly report delivers a comparative view of the average cotton and polyester prices in China, India and Pakistan, including the latest and historical trends of cotton/polyester price difference. PRICE REPORTS

Cambodia Apparel Exports in 4th Quarter and Full 2018 (Country Report)
9 May 2019 - Cambodia's apparel exports have further surged in 2018, being actually tripled in the past ten years. Exports to the European Union have continued sharply rising, but are now threatened by a possible withdrawal of their duty-free access. A return to 12% import tariffs would not significantly reduce Cambodian exports, according to a just published report by the World Bank. Current uncertainties could however benefit Vietnam and Bangladesh in the short term. Our statistical tables offer a comprehensive view of overall Cambodia's apparel exports in the past 10 years and exports per destination in the last 5 years. EU and US imports from Cambodia in 4th quarter 2018 are also available, with percentage changes being calculated in volume and value terms. Unit prices are available for a large number of product categories. All data can be downloaded covering a 5-year period from 2013.

Yarn Price Comparison: China vs India and Pakistan (Weekly Report)
9 May 2019 - Cotton yarn prices could be expected declining on Asian markets after cotton fiber prices have started dropping on domestic and international markets. Demand could remain relatively shy, over surging uncertainties triggered by US tariff threats. Our yarn comparison report offers a comprehensive view of 30s or 32s carded yarns in China, India and Pakistan, in local currency and US$ terms on a weekly basis over the last 12 months. 100% cotton, 100% polyester and 100% viscose are being covered with all data available for download.

Viscose Staple Fiber and Spun Yarn Prices (Weekly Report)
9 May 2019 - Viscose fiber prices have slightly declined in the past days in China, over a weakness in demand. Raw material costs have however dropped this week, for the first time in months. In Pakistan by contrast, viscose prices have risen over strong textile exports from the country. Our weekly report covers the viscose/rayon staple fiber and filament markets over the last 12 months. Viscose spun yarn prices in China, India and Pakistan are also available. Cotton linter, cotton pulp and wood pulp prices on domestic and import markets are being tracked over the last 12 months, in addition.

PRICE DATABASE

Cotton and polyester prices are now falling across the board, partly due to the US decision to raise its tariffs from 10% to 25% on a list of already punished Chinese products: Textile fiber Comparison: Daily Updated Table

PRICE REPORTS

Cotton Fiber & Yarn Price Comparison: China vs. India and Pakistan (Monthly Report)
10 May 2019 - Gross margins of cotton yarn producers have sharply increased in Pakistan in May thanks to strong sales and a consecutive rise of prices at spinning mills. By contrast, margins of yarn producers have heavily fallen in India after cotton fiber prices have sharply increased. May prospects are radically different, however. Our monthly report compares cotton fiber and yarn prices in China, India and Pakistan, offering a comprehensive view of the yarn/fiber spreads in the three countries. These gross margins of domestic spinners are displayed on a monthly basis with 10-year historical data available for download.

Nylon/Polyamide and Caprolactam Market Prices in China (Monthly Report)
10 May 2019 - Prices are now falling in the nylon chain, due to lower material costs and a weakness in demand from downward processors at the same time. Margins of nylon 6 filament producers could however improve to the detriment of chip makers.

Wool Prices in Australia (Weekly Report)
10 May 2019 - Wool prices have dropped this week in Australia, over a lack of demand from major Chinese buyers. The poor quality of drought-affected wool is also behind the decline of prices. Our report delivers a comprehensive view of wool prices in Australia, with a long list of micron types in A$, US$ and euro terms. Historical charts are also available for download.

PRICE REPORTS

Polyester Chain Prices: PX, PTA, MEG and Fiber Prices (Weekly Report)
13 May 2019 - Raw material costs of polyester producers have remained firm in the past seven days, due to tight supply in India. New PTA capacities will however be launched in the coming period in China, which could result in lower prices.

13 May 2019 - Cotton prices have dramatically fallen in the last week in New York, over a possible failure of China-US trade negotiations and the release by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) of bearish data for the next season 2019-20. Our weekly cotton report covers the international futures market in New York and China, and the physical indicator "A Index". Domestic cotton prices in China, India and Pakistan are also reviewed through a large number of tables and charts. All data are available for download.

PRICE DATABASE

PTA prices have suddenly tumbled today in China, leaving room for lower polyester prices: PTA & MEG Prices in China (Import & Domestic Markets): Price Database

PRICE REPORTS

Polyester Fiber Prices in China, India and Pakistan (Weekly Report)
15 May 2019 - Polyester fiber prices have further declined in the last seven days in China and may be expected further sliding after PTA prices have suddenly tumbled in the country. Demand is also expected being depressed in the coming period. Our weekly report covers the Polyester Staple Fiber (PSF) on the domestic markets in China, India, and Pakistan. Polyester filament prices in China are also released, whereas the report includes a price comparison of polyester with cotton and viscose in China.

India Yarn Prices: Domestic and Export Markets (Weekly Report)
15 May 2019 - Cotton yarn prices have stopped rising in India where cotton fiber prices have sharply fallen in the last seven days, in line with a dramatic decline of the international cotton market. The deterioration of US-China trade relations which has triggered the fall of cotton prices is therefore immediately benefiting Indian spinners. Our weekly review of Indian yarn prices covers the domestic and export markets, including carded and combed cotton, poly-cotton, poly-viscose, 100% polyester and 100% viscose. Major yarn production centers are covered with Tirupur (Tamil Nadu), Bhiwandi (Maharashtra) and Ludhiana (Punjab). Yarn prices are compared with fiber prices offering latest trends of spinners' margins. Market fundamentals are available on a monthly basis, including production and exports.

Pakistan Yarn Prices: Domestic and Export Markets (Weekly Report)
15 May 2019 - Spun yarn prices have further declined in Pakistan, with demand weakening during the month of Ramadan. Yarn export prices have however not dropped, as demand from foreign customers remained strong. Polyester prices could eventually fall after Chinese PSF prices have heavily declined, our correspondent reports. Our weekly review offers a comprehensive picture of the domestic and export yarn markets in Pakistan, with cotton yarns, polyester-cotton, polyester-viscose, polyester spun and viscose spun prices being covered. All these weekly data are available for download over a 12-month period.

Linen Fiber and Yarn Prices (Quarterly Report)
15 May 2019 - Flax fiber prices have further surged to record levels in the first quarter of the year, due to the development of linen apparel sales in the United States and Europe. With flax fiber production remaining stable in France, prices are expected to stay at a high level. This could favor a shift to cannabis, which is now legalized in many countries of the world, with a rebounding production currently in China. Our report offers a comprehensive view of the international market prices, including China's flax fiber import prices and linen yarn export prices. China's import and export data in volume and value terms are also available for download on a monthly basis back to December 2012.

China's Apparel Imports in last five years (Statistical Report)
14 May 2019 - China is rapidly becoming a major apparel importer in line with the relocation of its capacities to low-income countries in Asia, but also due to the development of its clothing and luxury markets. Imports from Italy have therefore rebounded in the last year, while shipments from Vietnam and Cambodia were further surging. Our statistical report offers a comprehensive view of Korea's overall apparel imports in the past 10 years in US$ terms. Detailed data per origin are also released over the last 5-year period. All data are available for download.

China Yarn Prices: Domestic and Import Markets (Weekly Report)
14 May 2019 - Spun yarn prices have begun dropping across the board in China, in line with a decline of fiber prices. Spinners are forced immediately lowering their offers, being confronted with high inventory levels after a disappointing peak season. Our weekly report covers the China yarn domestic and import market indicators, as well as local market prices in Qianqing (Zhejiang). Prices of a large number of counts are released for spun cotton, polyester, viscose and blends. Import prices are also available for cotton yarns. Domestic and import yarn prices are compared. All data are available for download.

U.S. Apparel Imports: Latest and Long-Term Trends (Monthly Report)
13 May 2019 - US apparel imports have been very strong in March with shipments from China sharply falling however, and imports surging by contrast from other nations like Vietnam. Higher production costs and the threat of heavier import tariffs could have triggered a decisive decision to progressively leave China to the benefit of a series of low-income countries. Our monthly review covers US apparel import data, with historical trends being analyzed over the 2000-2019 period including cotton vs man-made fiber apparel, and China vs Rest of World (RoW) and vs Vietnam.

Textile Fiber Price Comparison (Monthly Report)

16 May 2019 - Textile fiber prices have begun tumbling across the board on the international market and on domestic markets in Asia after US President Trump has decided raising import tariffs on a series of Chinese products. An already depressed textile market was actually betting on a sharp increase of China's buying of US cotton. The weakness of demand for textiles this year in China is now pushing down all fiber prices to lower levels, acrylic excepted. Our tables and charts offer a 3-month and 12-month price comparison of most used textile fibers, including cotton, polyester, viscose, wool, acrylic and nylon, all being available for download on a weekly basis through our historical csv file.

Our quarterly report details shipments to the U.S. market per origin, with volume and value changes, market shares, and unit value variations in the last five years. Quarterly and full year data covering the 2013-18 period are available for download.

Viscose Staple Fiber and Spun Yarn Prices (Weekly Report)

Our report covers the recycled polyester PSF and POY prices in China over the past 3 years. Re-PSF and Re-POY prices are compared with similar virgin fiber prices for PSF and POY prices. PRICE DATABASE

Our EU clothing import database has been updated with first-quarter data, offering a comprehensive view of category imports per origin, with a series of specific products being covered, including home textiles: US & EU clothing import database

PRICE REPORTS

Polyester Fiber Prices in China, India, and Pakistan (Weekly Report)
24 July 2019 - Polyester fiber prices have continued to decline in the last days in China, partly due to a sharp fall of PTA prices in the meantime, after operating rates have been slashed at fiber plants.

24 July 2019 - Cotton fiber prices have begun bottoming out in India, where spinners have continued to lower their offers for cotton yarns, by contrast. Gross margins should continue dropping, as a result, with anemic exports further depressing production and sales. Our weekly review of Indian yarn prices covers the domestic and export markets, including carded and combed cotton, poly-cotton, poly-viscose, 100% polyester, and 100% viscose. Major yarn production centers are covered with Tirupur (Tamil Nadu), Bhiwandi (Maharashtra) and Ludhiana (Punjab). Yarn prices are compared with fiber prices, and offering the latest trends of spinners' margins.

Pakistan Yarn Prices: Domestic and Export Markets (Weekly Report)
24 July 2019 - Cotton fiber prices have rebounded in Pakistan, over a rise in orders from spinners. Demand for yarns remains however subdued, due to uncertainties triggered by the new tax system, our correspondent reports. Our weekly review offers a comprehensive picture of the domestic and export yarn markets in Pakistan, with cotton yarns, polyester-cotton, polyester-viscose, polyester spun and viscose spun prices being covered. All these weekly data are available for download over 12 months.

China Yarn Prices: Domestic and Import Markets (Weekly Report)
23 July 2019 - Spun yarn prices have further fallen in the past seven days in China, over a weakness in demand. Seasonal trends should now favor spinners, however, as inventories also need to be replenished, and yarn import prices are not very competitive. Our weekly report covers the China yarn domestic and import market indicators, as well as local market prices in Qianqing (Zhejiang). Prices of a large number of counts are released for spun cotton, polyester, viscose, and blends. Import prices are also available for cotton yarns. Domestic and import yarn prices are compared. All data are available for download.

Cambodia Apparel Exports in 1st Quarter 2019 (Quarterly Report)
23 July 2019 - Cambodian apparel exports have begun to feel the negative impact of the EU's threat to withdraw their duty-free access. Although the decision, if confirmed, will not be effective before August 2020, European buyers have anticipated the possible end of the preferential treatment. Our statistical series provide a comprehensive view of Cambodia's clothing exports in the 1st quarter 2015-2019, including volume, value, and unit value changes per destination. A set of indices offers a 4-year approach. Knit, woven, and total apparel exports are separately displayed. All data are available for download.

Inflation in Emerging Countries (Monthly Report)
22 July 2019 - Inflation rates are stable in emerging countries, however staying at very different levels depending on origins. Turkey and Pakistan are confronted with high inflation rates, but a dramatic fall in their currencies is more than offsetting the negative effect for exporters. As reflected by our price model, inflation rates may be quite different after being converted into US$ or euro terms. Our monthly report offers a comparison of inflation rates in low-cost countries, with historical data available back to June 2007. Impact of currency changes vs. the US dollar, the euro, and the Sterling is also calculated to assess real terms of trade for exporters.
