3 January 2018 - Polyester prices are climbing in China, although very slowly. The return of the long-term polyester rally is mostly due to a rise of intermediate prices. The rise of the euro has helped limiting the jump of unit prices in dollar terms. Cambodia Apparel Exports in January-September 2017 (Country Report)
16 January 2018 - Cambodia's apparel exports have continued climbing in the first three quarters of 2017. They are however expected slowing down in 2018, after minimum wages have been further raised and ahead of a potentially difficult political year. Sales to Japan have also begun stagnating in 2017 whereas rival Vietnam has continued taking shares of the US market to the detriment of neighboring Cambodia. 16 February 2018 - China's share of the US apparel import market has resisted in 2017, thanks to a new drop of unit prices whereas they have slightly risen from other origins. China has however lost market shares in many apparel categories, including in man-made fiber categories where its exports to the United States were very strong until now. This is reflected by our statistical review comparing US apparel imports from China with shipments from Rest of the World (RoW) for every category of products, in volume, value and unit value terms. 20 February 2018 - EU's clothing imports have declined in December in volume terms, although unit prices have plunged in euro terms. Export prices are now sharply rising in low-income countries in dollar terms. Chinese exporters are forced significantly raising their prices which were falling a year earlier, by contrast, and they are losing market shares as a consequence. Our report covers monthly EU clothing import data, with historical trends being analyzed, and a specific focus on China vs Rest of World (RoW) and Bangladesh, and on knit vs woven clothing. 6 March 2018 - Polyester staple fiber prices have risen in India and Pakistan in February, with spinners also raising their 100% polyester yarns in both countries, however not in the same way. Gross margins have therefore moved into different directions in India and Pakistan. Our monthly report compares polyester staple fiber and polyester spun yarn prices in China, India and Pakistan, in both local currency terms and US$ terms. Gross margins of spinners are also calculated on a monthly basis. Historical data back to 2007 are available for download.

6 March 2018 -Yarn prices in Bangladesh have either fallen or remained stable for most products, despite strong price increases on the New York cotton market over the past 2 weeks. 8 March 2018 - US apparel imports from China have more significantly declined in the first month of the new year whereas shipments were stagnating from Vietnam and experiencing a double-digit increase form a series of other origins. Cotton apparel imports are now recovering, in addition. Most categories have benefited from the rebound of the euro and the Sterling in 2017, with a few woven clothing categories again declining, however. 9 March 2018 - Apparel exports from Bangladesh have recovered in the second half of 2017, due to a fall of export prices, thanks to a decline of the currency and a rebound of the euro whereas labor costs have been kept at a low level for years. Negotiations are however now taking place for raising minimum wages. Our statistical tables provide a comprehensive view of Bangladesh's clothing exports over the last years, also covering the latest US and EU apparel import data per product category. Recycled Polyester Prices in China (New Report)
9 March 2018 -Prices for recycled PSF and POY have remained stable over the past few weeks, with prices for the PSF version having increased slightly whereas recycled POY has stayed unchanged. At the same time, virgin PSF prices have dropped to somewhat lower levels, resulting in a decreasing spread between recycled PSF and the more expensive virgin PSF. Our report covers the price development of recycled polyester PSF and POY in China (Qianqing) over the past 2 years. Yarn Prices Comparison: China vs India and Pakistan (New Weekly Report)
19 April 2018 - Spun polyester prices are now climbing in China, in line with the current recovery of polyester staple fiber prices whereas 100% polyester prices have already surged 10% in the last three months in Pakistan. By contrast, spun viscose prices have begun dropping in China, after VSF prices have eventually declined. 100% viscose had previously surged in Pakistan. Cotton yarn prices could stay everywhere at their currently high levels. 19 April 2018 -Inflation in China slowed down again after near-target levels of the previous month, undershooting market expectations. Pakistani exports are favored by low inflation and the plunge of the Pak rupee. The trend of a weak dollar and a strong euro/sterling continues, potentially further boosting exports to the Eurozone and the UK. 20 June 2018 - Cotton yarn prices have been further raised in the last week in India as spinners were trying to limit the fall of their gross margins. Domestic cotton prices are however now falling in line with the international market. The cotton market could however be supported by a stronger demand from China, as a result of its trade war with the United States. Our review of Indian yarn prices covers the domestic and export markets, including carded and combed cotton, poly-cotton, poly-viscose, 100% polyester and 100% viscose. Yarn prices are compared with fiber prices offering latest trends of spinners' margins. Market fundamentals are available on a monthly basis, including production and exports.
Inflation in Emerging Countries (Monthly Report)
19 June 2018 -High oil prices have boosted inflation in India in May, forcing regulators to raise interest rates for the first time in four and a half years. In Turkey meanwhile, the crisis did not subside, with inflation surpassing market expectations, despite the efforts of Turkey’s Central Bank. In Pakistan, the rupee’s strong devaluation has boosted inflation through higher prices for imports. Our monthly report offers a comparison of inflation rates in low-cost countries, with historical data available back to June 2007. Impact of currency changes vs the US dollar, the euro and the Sterling is also calculated to assess real terms of trade for exporters.
China Yarn Prices: Domestic and Import Markets (Weekly Report)
19 June 2018 - Cotton yarn prices are relatively stabilized in China where margins have fallen in the last weeks. Polyester spun prices have been raised by contrast, with 100% viscose prices also increasing. Our weekly report covers the China yarn domestic and import market indicators, as well as local market prices in Qianqing and Shaoxing (Zhejiang). Prices of a large number of counts are released for spun cotton, polyester, viscose and blends. Import prices are also available for yarns from India, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Vietnam. China Apparel Exports in 1st Quarter 2018 (Country Report)
21 June 2018 - China's clothing exports have stopped declining in the first quarter, thanks to a recovery of knit apparel shipments whereas woven apparel exports were further affected by the surge of labor costs in the past years. Shipments to Vietnam have surprisingly surged whereas exports to Hong Kong were also rebounding, with products being partly re-exported to other destinations. Our statistical series provide a comprehensive picture of China's clothing exports in 1st quarter 2018, with volume, value and unit price changes per destination. Export data are also available over the 5-year period from 1st quarter 2013. In addition, the report includes a comprehensive review of US and EU imports from China per product category.
