Cotton futures have sharply dropped last Friday in New York, with China's futures market also falling in the last week.

After having rebounded after Chinese new year holidays, polyester chain prices are now retreating back to lower levels in Asia.

22 February 2017 - EU's clothing imports have continued significantly rising in the fourth quarter from the relatively low level of 2015. Bangladeshi shipments have further surged whereas China was losing ground whatever the sharp fall of its unit prices. Cambodia, Pakistan and Myanmar have continued emerging, as reflected by our comprehensive review covering the 4th quarter and full 2006 per origin. A large number of statistical tables are released, with volume, value and unit value changes in both euro and US$ terms. E.U. Clothing Imports: Latest and Long-Term Trends - December and Full Year 2016 (Monthly Report)
21 February 2017 - EU's clothing imports have continued strongly rising in December, in line with full year data reflecting a rebound in demand from the European Union buyers after the euro has stopped falling from a year earlier. Our report covers monthly EU clothing import data, with historical trends being analyzed, and a specific focus on China vs Rest of World (RoW) and Bangladesh, and on knit vs woven clothing. Over the last five years, unit values have risen in euro terms whereas sharply falling in dollar terms, as reflected by our report. Statistical tables are published with volume, value and unit value changes in euro and US$ terms, covering 61 and 62 HS chapters (knit and woven clothing). 13 March 2017 - Average unit prices of shipments to the European Union have significantly declined in both euro and US$ terms in full 2016. Chinese unit values have more sharply dropped than average in most product categories, without boosting exports to the EU, whereas Bangladesh has continued improving its market shares. Other leading suppliers have also cut their unit values in the last year. As usual, the market trends are rather different depending on product categories and origins. Production levels and inventories are however remaining very large. 22 March 2017 - Nylon prices have begun falling in the last weeks, after raw material costs of polyamide fiber producers have sharply declined. They had previously surged and the nylon chain is therefore experiencing an extreme volatility. Viscose spun prices are further dropping on the international market and on domestic markets, due to a continuous fall of viscose staple fiber prices.

Over the last five years, unit values have risen in euro terms whereas sharply falling in dollar terms, as reflected by our report. The monthly estimate for the global cotton production in 2017-18 has been raised by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), with ending stocks in next season also further rising, as a clear sign that cotton prices could sharply fall in the next autumn. Nylon prices are now more clearly increasing, in line with a previous rise of caprolactam prices in Asia.

Strong differences may be observed depending on HS 4-digit categories. 12 July 2017 - Cashmere prices continued being weak in the first months of the year, before stabilizing and even slightly rising in Mongolia and China, in July. Our below report offers an overall picture of short-term and long-term trends of cashmere prices with latest export prices for Chinese fibers and yarns (woolen and worsted). Domestic fiber and yarn prices on China's Bohai market are also released on a monthly basis. Historical data covering the last five years are available for download.

Polyester Fiber and Filament Yarn Prices in China (Weekly Report)
12 July 2017 - Polyester prices have begun more sharply rising in China, with PSF prices even climbing 2.5% today on the domestic market over a sudden increase of intermediate prices. Our weekly report covers the Polyester Staple Fiber (PSF) and Polyester Filament Yarn (PFY) prices on the domestic market, including a price comparison of polyester staple fibers with cotton and viscose. The gross margin of polyester spun yarn producers is also released.

India Yarn Prices: Domestic and Export Markets (Weekly Report)
12 July 2017 - Polyester and viscose spun yarn prices have slightly risen in the last days in India, amid rising confusion over the implementation of the new tax regime. 11 July 2017 - Apparel exports from Pakistan have steadily increased in the past months, being boosted by the duty-free access to the European market and whatever the fall experienced in shipments to the United States. Our statistical series provide a comprehensive view of Pakistan's clothing exports by month over the last 10 years, with long-term trends being analyzed for knit and woven categories, respectively. The report also includes an exhaustive review of US and EU imports from Pakistan per product category.

China Yarn Prices: Domestic and Import Markets (Weekly Report)
11 July 2017 - Cotton yarn import prices are falling in China, with domestic spinners being consecutively pressured. Polyester and viscose spun are further recovering in the meantime. Our weekly report covers the China yarn domestic and import market indicators, as well as local market prices in Qianqing (Zhejiang). Prices of a large number of counts are released for spun cotton, polyester, viscose and blends. Import prices are also available for yarns from India, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Vietnam. U.S. Apparel Imports: Latest and Long-Term Trends (Monthly Report)
10 July 2017 - US apparel imports have continued rising in volume terms in May, although at a lower pace than in the two previous months. China and Vietnam have taken larger shares of the US apparel import market, thanks to a sharp decline of their unit prices.
