I have been experiencing a lot of lag when I play with mods even with OptiFine. So, with my 24gb ram laptop which has intel graphics, I tried to increase the default 2gb of allocated ram. But no matter how much more ram I allocate to the game, it won't use more than 2gb of it in-game. I tried to use the optimized settings in the Intel graphics command center as shown below, but it says I have to run the game at least once. I have played the game so many times already!

Before someone says this is a duplicate question, yes I am aware that there is a similar question here: Why isn't Minecraft using the full amount of RAM? However, he uses Nvidia graphics, which is different than the Intel graphics that I have. Thus, any ideas how to force MC to use more ram in-game to decrease lag (or other ways to decrease lag)?

If you want to force Minecraft to use that amount of memory, you should use -Xms instead of -Xmx. This is the option that forces Minecraft to use that amount of memory (actually, this is simply an option to let Minecraft reserve a specified amount of memory and use it from there when needed.)

In case of this specific type of lag you've encountered - repeated periodic freezes of order of a second every couple seconds, occurring most frequently after a period of fast travel through the world (as opposed to spending time in one area), increasing the amount of memory allocated to Minecraft helps.

I know this is really late but I have a potential solution. I was experiencing the same issue on vanilla and I was experimenting with different fixes. It may be a CPU problem naturally Java should use multiple processors. But mine was only about 2 or 3. If you go into task manager, right click (Open JDK platform binary) and go to details. Then right click javaw.exe and set affinity the click more processors or all processors and it helped with the lag spikes. I now experience no lag spikes whatsoever.

I am making this private modpack in Minecraft. It's all ready, but I need help with making a mod that forces all players to be in gamemode 2 (adventure mode), or just make players unable to place/destroy blocks. How can I make a mod like that?

This is no online server, it is just meant to be in my modpack in singleplayer. (modpack is a collection of several mods). It is an apocalypse modpack, where players must raid houses, kill NPC players, hide during night etc. This is why I want the player who creates the world, automatically gets set to gamemode 2 (or atleast isn't able to build/destroy). NOTE: I have not created a single mod before, I did not make the mods in my modpack.

In your server.properties file, there are two options that can do this for you (you don't need a mod). This is also a vanilla thing so even if you switch to a server like spigot/bukkit, canary or plain vanilla, it will still work.

You can also use a command block to force all players into a gamemode. If you have this command block going on a clock, all players will change gamemodes instantly apart from you (you must put in your name).

Futhermore: Once you have got the basic mod set up, you will want a player login event that sets a player's gamemode to gamemode 2. The other method would be to deny all block placement and break events.

You will see the message "Marked chunk [-83,3] in minecraft:overworld to be force loaded" appear in the lower left corner of the game window. Now the chunk at the xz coordinate of [-83,3] will be set to force load which which cause the chunk to be constantly loaded.

Hello once again people! Gammerguy here or thePYROhobo in minecraft with one of my favorite contraptions in minecraft! The TNT Force Field! This Minecraft contraption is one of my favorites because it involves explosives and redstone. To make this you will need:

First, get six blocks of anything-you-can-find then place two on the ground and one on top in an L shape. Then, get two ladders and place them on the top block and the block on the bottom that doesn't have any block on it. Next, place a Dispenser behind the L shapes so that an empty space is in front of the Dispenser. Place water on the empty space, make sure it doesn't spill out. You're done with the L shape thingies.

Behind the dispenser one block, place three blocks on the ground in a row and make another three row on top of it. Place three blocks in a row on the side facing away from the Dispenser. This part is important because the contraption doesn't work without it. Replace the row that connects the L together with redstone. Then, below the the top row place three redstone torches. This should act like a redstone comparator and start to blink very fast. I like this set up because it costs less resources to use in minecraft rather than using a restone comparator.

To activate this contraption just place some redstone that connects the stairs to the dispenser. Please note that this contraption will kill you unless you are standing behind one of the blocks near it so watch out!

That's all guys! I hope you enjoy this thing! I find it really helpful when I want to keep mobs and other players away from me. Please comment and follow if you want some more minecraft instructables and BAIIIIIIIIII!!!

Sets the default game mode (Creative, Survival, etc.) for new players entering a multiplayer server. If in multiplayer and force-gamemode in the server.properties file is true, or if in LAN world, all online players are set to this game mode.

A tree added by dart craft and is the basis for all items in dart craft. Leaves can be harvested with the effective tool being a crook. Logs can be chopped down and crafted into force planks. Leaves have a potential of dropping force nuggets.

Modular Force Field SystemAuthor(s)Thunderdark, Matchlighter, Lightone, and mistaqur. Now run by Calclavia. Classic version run by Nekosune and Imalune.Version3.0URLMFFS (Forum)Root ModIndustrialCraft2Mod Pack(s)Feed The Beast Beta Pack A, Direwolf20 Pack, MindCrack Pack, Universal Electricity, Tech WorldModular Force Field System, or MFFS for short, adds force fields to the game of Minecraft. These force fields are an extension of IndustrialCraft2 and can be configured with an upgrade system. Force fields are indestructible and need force energy(FE) to function. In the current version force fields hurt any player who tries to break a force field block. Force fields also kill/damage players if the force field forms on the player.

Crafting an MFFS MultiTool gives you access to an in-game guide to some of the features of MFFS. To access Guide mode, hold the MFFS Multitool in your hand and cycle through the various modes with Sneak+Right-Click, then Right-Click to open the Guide.

To start with the MFFS mod, you need to have some basic IndustrialCraft 2 infrastructure, as a lot of recipes use the Advanced Machine Block. You will also need many diamonds, Forcicium (which you can get from Monazit Ore), and an Industrial craft, buildcraft or universal electricity power generation source

First, you need to be able to produce enough Force energy to run your forcefields. To do that you need a MFFS Extractor. Put Forcicium into the top left slot and supply it with Industrial craft (any voltage), buildcraft or universal electricity energy. Make sure to apply a redstone signal (by default) or the extrator WILL NOT WORK. The Extractor will use the energy to extract force energy from the forcicium. Then, you need to build a MFFS Capacitor to store your force energy. The two machines do not need to be touching, but must be linked with a MFFS Card. To do so, simply right-click the capacitor with card in hand, and then right-click the exctractor. The default range for capacitor is 8 blocks, so you might want to increase it with MFFS Capacitor Upgrade - Range. To switch your Extractor on, you need to do one of three things. Depending on which mode you set in the top-right corner, you can either apply redstone signal to it to enable/disable the extractor, control it via the MFFS MultiTool in switch mode, or set it to where it can only be managed by a MFFS Control System remotely.

Now that you have an energy network, you need an MFFS Projector to create a forcefield. First, link it to a capacitor like you would link an extractor. Then insert one of the projector modules. If you want to protect your base, you will probably want cube or sphere. Next, you need to customize your forcefield. Customization options depend on the projector module, for cube or sphere you will need to increase its diameter. To do so put few MFFS Projector Field Modulator - Distance upgrades to the blue-bordered slot on the right side of Projector GUI. To switch your Projector on, you need to apply redstone signal to it. The Projector can also be controlled by the MFFS MultiTool in switch mode, but first you need to set it in Projector GUI in the right top corner. Get the ID Card and put it in MFFS Security Station in the master slot. Next you need to link it to your Capacitor and Projector. Right-click the security station with blank card in your hand and you will get a security card. Right-click the machine you want to protect with it. Now you can teleport trough the forcefield by right-clicking it with MFFS MultiTool in field teleporter mode, but the other players can't.

Your forcefield still needs additional safety measures. Other players could still get into your forcefield, for example through nether portal. However you can add MFFS Projector Upgrade - Defense Station to your projector. The upgrade should go into one of three slots in the bottom right corner. This upgrade will kill anyone inside your forcefield, unless they have stay right set in your MFFS Security Station. You must switch you Projector off and then on for the upgrade to take effect. The other players could still destroy your base with their projectors though. To prevent that, add MFFS Projector Upgrade - Force Field Jammer to your Projector and restart it again. This upgrade will jam any other Projector that would try to spawn forcefield inside your forcefield, unless it would be linked to the same capacitor.
