Q3How to make a FAT16 / 32 format USB flash drive
A3: Please refer to the following steps:
1. Format the USB flash drive. On the USB flash drive, right-click and select Format FAT16 / 32. *Formatting will delete all data in the USB flash drive.

Note: The USB flash drive format must be FAT32 so that you are able to update BIOS in the BIOS utility. Here you can learn more about How to convert the USB flash drive format to FAT32.

i cant access my bios settings it is locked in grey there, i accidentally created an administrator account password in bios now i dont know how to remove it and i cant access my mother board settings laptop asus tuf

I have a asus K53E and I reinstalled windows using the serial key that my laptop came with. I am now trying to instal the BIOS flash program for windows that asus has. But when I try to it says. "sorry, this program only supports ASUS notebook!". Why is it doing this? And is there any way to fix this?

Long story short, the Asus CUSL2 motherboard got a soldered bios chip so I cant get away with my normal usb bios flasher routine, resulting in me finally having to dig up and test my old floppy that ofc didn't work.. So now Im stuck with having to update the bios of this lovely motherboard from within Windows, the question is what program to use? Ive tried winflash and asus live update (requires internet) so far.

It -might- work to format a spare empty IDE drive with minimal DOS files (as found on a flashing-floppy or flashing USB stick) and use that in place of the floppy. If the utility has any bat files bundled you may need to edit the file paths to C drive.

And about the floppy, Id probably desolder the chip to flash it before ordering a new floppy so might just as well have risked the windows flash first as a bricked chip wouldnt be that bad if it didnt play out as expected.

So I want to update an old BIOS on my Asus M32 desktop from 2014. I went to the Asus website to find the most recent version. I searched by motherboard, which is listed in the UEFI BIOS as K30BF_M32BF. The exact model number I just listed isn't a thing on there, but the individual parts of it are, and they both lead to the same BIOS version (version 0704, Model: K30BF/M32BF/K31BF). I download this and extract the compressed file to a flash drive. When I go into the BIOS and try to use the EZ Flash Utility under Advanced, and select the .CAP file that I have on my newly formatted thumb drive, I get a message saying "Security Verification Failed".

I tried a different flash drive and got the same results. They were both formatted with FAT32, which is what is needed for this. What do you guys think is causing this? This has to be the right file doesn't it? I heard by reading on Tom's Hardware that the Asus UEFI BIOS can be kind of picky or finicky when it comes to flash drives and which they accept. I have some other really old ones laying around somewhere that I guess I could try. But I wanted to see if the issue was related to this.

I ran into the same problem where my original version of the BIOS was 1103 and I wanted to upgrade to the latest one at a time 4801. I saw all the same messages where in FlashBack option the lights would not start blinking and in the EZ-Flash it would not see the CAP files at all. There was one post which said I got it working it was the naming thing HOWEVER did not provide steps how. Anyhow after a few hours of trying different combinations I got it working, and here are the steps. Some steps might be pointless, however, I am listing what I did in order to get the 4801 successfully flash my BIOS.

This was not too straight forward cause I could not get it to flash to 4803 directly, possibly I just had bad luck or missed a step but following the above sequence got me to upgrade. Hopefully this will help and save some debugging hell for you.

ASUS WinFlash is a free utility made by ASUS for PCs. It is a flash tool used to check for updates, as well as perform BIOS updates on ASUS-branded motherboards. This program is compatible and can be used on both desktop and laptop computers.

BIOS implementations are manufacturer-dependent, and in the case of ASUS-branded ones, it's the ASUS WinFlash utility. There are two ways to update your BIOS. First is by getting the file from the official servers of the company. The second is by using one that is saved on your PC or flash drive. Compare your version to the latest one, and if yours is outdated, then proceed with the flashing process.

The utility will do the rest for you, and you just have to wait for it to finish updating. Before you use the ASUS WinFlash utility, just be aware that it is a program that was specifically made to use with ASUS-made motherboards only. It will not work with boards that were made by other manufacturers.

If you own an ASUS-branded laptop or you specifically use one of the company's aftermarket motherboards for your PC build, then the ASUS WinFlash utility is a must-have. You can easily manage and update your BIOS version so that it's always the latest one, with all the improvements and new features added.
