Thefunctionality I am looking for is to simply backup my android to my pc and when I delete a file from my phone it should not be deleted from the pc and if I delete any file from the pc it should not delete on the phone as well.

Howdy! I just noticed that while I have access to my PC backup in the Dropbox app on my phone, the backup for my external drive is not shown or accessible in the app. It shows up fine online, and the PC app shows that the drive is completely backup up.

So the problem about restoring backups after the device is factory reset also happens if the account is a personal Google Account ending with @gmail.com or @googlemail.com so this is not necessarily a unique issue to Workspace if that is what you are trying to imply (users report this sort of thing even on the Android Help Community)..but is the user not getting the option to restore a backup or what exact error message are they getting when they try? And just to confirm, your backups are in Google Workspace and even when you try to set up that exact Google Account on your phone, you are not given an option to restore an Android backup? Is the Android managed by the organization? (Organizations can manage certain types of devices including Chromebooks.)

I want to backup everything on my android but then be able to delete photos and videos from my phone to save space without them being deleted on Dropbox. How do I do this please? I have uploaded everything using the memory zone app.

dropbox for instance has an android app which automatically backs up photos as they are taken on my smartphone. I am thinking of setting up my own personal nas system with cloud access. does netgear have a similar app for smartphones that will do the same - ie - back up my photos to my nas system as they are taken?

yes - I have been reading a lot more about readyNAS over past couple of days, and it looks like readycloud may have the facility. it didnt seem to when I first had a quick look. I will soon be going ahead and getting my system, so will then play around with a couple of things to see what can be done.

Yes, but you would most likely need to a 3rd party app that supports backing up to an NAS to do so. Generally the WD My Cloud and WD Photos apps for Android are for backing up photos/videos on the Android device to the My Cloud.

Now, I am sure there are lots more details, such as some root might be required depending on the backup apps or to mount the share. But that that is for you to find out and those belong on another forum

To backup samsung galaxy data, Coolmuster Android Assistant also works great, it could transfer sms, contacts, photos, etc. to computer in few simple steps, have a try.

how to backup samsung contacts

If you are a Samsung user, you might want to backup all your important Samsung mobile device data to the cloud. After all, files can be lost easily from the Samsung device, no matter because of accidental deletion, device formatting, system corruption and so forth.

My WhatsApp has been giving me trouble for a long time regarding backups. It started a couple of months ago when I pressed back up now and I received an error message saying "unable to back up". A little while later, my WhatsApp suddenly crashed and when I tried opening it, I received an additional error message saying

I tried looking up different solutions and I did everything including, resetting the cache, disconnecting and reconnecting my Google account, turning off my phone, and playing around with every possible setting. I have plenty of storage on my device and Google Drive account and a great internet connection, so I had no idea where the problem was. The only solution that helped was when I switched my WhatsApp number to a different number. After that, I was able to back up to Google Drive normally as it should be. Unfortunately, I had to reset my WhatsApp from new and start again which was really irritating, on the bright side I was able to do backups moving forward.

My WhatsApp has been working fine ever since yesterday when it gave me the same "unable to back up" error message I'm all too familiar with. Not surprisingly, the next day my WhatsApp crashed and the situation that happened a couple of months ago repeated itself.

Normally when WhatsApp makes a backup, it makes a local backup too. You can find the local backup on your phone's memory or sd card under the WhatsApp folder. You should probably backup the backup so it doesn't get overwritten by a new backup, then you can turn off Google Drive backup and see if you can do "Backup now". It should then only make a local backup.

If that doesn't work you should try putting the local backup back. I am not sure what the cause could be, I would assume either your phone isn't authenticating with Google Drive properly or your Drive is full. Try logging off from Google and logging back in. There may be an issue with the data of WhatsApp itself. Sometimes clearing the cache helps but I can't guarantee what'll work and what not.

It looks like it managed to create a backup 16 days ago, so if nothing works you should still have a proper copy of your messages from everything before that date. Reinstalling WhatsApp should then give you the option to recover from Google Drive, but you will lose 16 days of chat history unless if you use the local backup.

Could you provide information as to what the issue actually is? Typically an import hasn't really been needed because you are just expected to sync it and if the sync isn't working then you have bigger issues and the app is far less useful overall.

Our family business has about a dozen android phones and tablets and half of them cannot access our Linux Joplin data because of something that does not permit Dropbox or even Joplin itself to operate properly apparently due to some ARM cpu variation or failure to have the latest android release, although that is only speculation. Admittedly none of our devices are the latest or greatest. Our needs are not sophisticated. We only need one way copy since the android copies are used read only by choice.

An alternative might be to indicate if the data dir's on joplin-desktop can just be copied to android and just where in android they should be. That is, if duplicating the files from Linux Joplin into the proper location on android joplin would work at all.

Please don't suggest that we just sign up all our devices for joplin cloud. For good reason we do not trust confidential data to any software provider's promises of secrecy. It's a very small business but it's all we have.

I don't know if this is intended as a slight but giving the benefit of the doubt I don't think this has ever been an agenda pushed by anyone.

Joplin not only maintains (and continually enhances) compatibility with propriatary sync targets (dropbox, onedrive, aws) but also with open source + self hostable solutions (nextcloud, webDAV, local file system sync) not to mention Joplin Cloud itself is simply a hosted version of Joplin Server which one can self host.

Is it possible to use syncthing in order to get all annotation made on an the joplin android app. I started to try to include my android app with my joplincloud without loosing my old annotation made on the android app.

By the way, we can back up Joplin backup files with root access. This can eliminate the need for Joplin Cloud for fast initial synchronization on the mobile side. I haven't tried this. If anyone has tried it, they can write about it!
