I plan to run 3 pairs of Sonos/Sonance in-ceiling speakers off of one (1) Sonos Amp. I would like to be able to control the volume of each of the pairs independently. I have been investigating two options:

Cons - Will cost more than option 1 when factoring in additional wiring and such. Once installed, you cannot easily remove this without using a blank wall plate at a minimum. You will always need to get up and walk to the wall to change volume.

We have been having issues on our tv with the volume. When trying to move up or down its moves once and goes right back to what it was at. We have tried on the samsung, firestick and DirecTV remote with all having same issue. We have to reset tv numerous times for it to work. This happens daily and is very frustrating.

FIXED (for now) - Had a similar issue for months and posted in a separate thread. Problem was too many downloaded apps taking up memory and causing the TV to perform poorly. I performed another Reset on the TV (Settings > Support > Self Diagnosis > Reset), followed by initial setup (Settings > General > Initial Setup), and logged back into my Samsung account on the TV. From there, I was finally able to gain access to the SmarTV Apps function. After seeing another similar post describing issues with available memory space, I checked my downloaded apps, and found over a dozen garbage apps that must have auto-downloaded. I deleted every app except those I regularly use, and a small handful of base apps with no option to delete (i.e. Hulu, Prime TV, Vudu, Internet, etc.). This left me with about 11% memory remaining. Miraculously, my volume is no longer stuck and the TV operates normally, going on about an hour. I've adjusted the volume about 50 times already with no issues. First time the TV is behaving normally in about 3 months. Hope this is helpful. Good luck out there.

this worked for me too, thank you!! I didn't have the option to "disable autorun smart featers" as the button wouldn't change anything - but saw the option on a different screen to reset the smart hub so tried that. We were just about to buy a new TV due to this -so I'm happy it worked!

I have been searching for the past three days since my smartthings app automatically updated, and I am not sure if there is a way to just role back the app version since that might be enough to fix it but,

Ever since the newest update all the volume controls through the in-app remote have disappeared. It used to be handy to lower the volume on my kids TV from the other room but now the volume buttons are just gone and I am not sure how to bring them back.

On the new black remote there is a bar across the top with like 2 small horizontal lines. Click the lines and it will bring up a fuller remote control which includes vol control
Took me over an hour to realise this by frustratingly just tapping the screen
Very unclear app change !

Thank you and the guy who mentioned the volume button from phone. There was no feedback from my phone to tell me that it worked(sound or volume adjusting image) so I had not realized it worked.

24thAug17. Very interesting and helpful. I am waiting for IOS11 before I purchase my iPad pro but from what you say I will not purchase it until I am sure the volume can be changed using the keyboard. As a matter of interest how do you change the volume with the keyboard attached ?

Exactly what is the answer to this one ? Apple have told me the volume on the iPad Pro can be changed on the attached smart keyboard by pressing Cmd and + or -. If this is not the case the volume can only be changed by detaching the smart keyboard and pressing the difficult buttons on the base of the iPad Pro. This is enought to put me off buying the iPad Pro with the NOT SO SMART KEYBOARD? and I will not be buying it until if and when Apple redesign the smart keyboard so that the volume can be changed on the attached keyboard.

Just spent 45 minutes with Apple support, they seem to have no clue, I am trying again tomorrow. I am trying to use it with an iMac, the keyboard is brand new and letters work but the function keys are useless and I have no way to control volume. They wanted me to come to the Genius Bar but I refused, saying this is a common issue online, they need to figure out how it is to be configured. Might be sending this back despite loving the attached numeric pad!

25Aug17 Thank you, interesting what you say about Apple not knowing. I have a Mac book Pro which of course has its own keyboard with dedicated volume adjusting buttons. I am not familiar with the iMac but it appears one has a seperate keyboard which I would have thought has its own dedicated volume keys. It is the iPad Pro I had intended to buy but am holding off until I know definitely the answer to the problem of adjusting the audio volume by keys on the smart keyboard. How else is anyone going to adjust this without detaching the Smart Keyboard and use the buttons on the base of the iPad Pro. These buttons are fiddley and on my iPad Air Two I end up messing up what I am looking at on the screen ! Perhaps people who own an iPad Pro are not bothered about adjusting the volume. Or depend on what they are viewing to have a slider volume adjusting bar on the screen. Or just put up with a too loud or too soft volume .

31stAugust2017 Amazingly simple ! I called at PC World yesterday and tried out an iPad Pro. The cmd plus + or - do NOT control the volume as Apple Support said. In fact nothing on the smart keyboard will control volume. The volume physical buttons are on the iPad Pro on the top edge out of sight. One has to feel where they are. The first bump one feels with the finger is the up volume and the second bump along is the down volume. In my opinion totally unsatisfactory as I found my thumb touching the screen which completely messed up the picture on the screen. It is a real thumbs down on the iPad Pro and I shall not be replacing my iPad Air two with the iPad Pro.

Recreate the massive movie theater audio experience at home on your headphones or desktop speakers. With Surround, you're transported out of the room and into the movie theater. EXPAND TO LEARN MORE

Driving the capability to enhance audio content for any configuration, Surround transforms standard audio into a full-fledged multi-speaker virtual surround experience on your stereo headphones or desktop speakers.

By processing audio through highly optimized algorithms to recreate virtualized surround sound even through a 2.0 speaker setup, or even headphones, it is able to intelligently identify and enhance the spatial information of the incoming audio, and optimize it for the chosen output format. This means you get state-of-the-art Surround Virtualization that draws you to where the action is for a complete and immersive auditory experience.

1 Upmixer
Stereo and multi-channel ambient content, as well as center channel information (dialog) are processed to match the active output configuration, and handed off to the Virtualizer.

2 Virtualizer
Virtualizer then takes the processed audio and spatializes it over headphones, stereo, and multi-channel speakers via optimized HRTF (head-related transfer function) filters.

Crystalizer enhances the dynamic range of compressed audio to restore those lost details, and deliver a realistic and impactful audio experience intended by the content creators. EXPAND TO LEARN MORE

In real-time, the Crystalizer constantly monitors the current audio stream and rapid amplitude changes. A dynamic equalizer then applies the audio boost (an audible effect) to the lower, transient, and higher frequency regions on demand, and releases the boost when the audio stream normalizes.

Bass brings chest-pounding, window-shaking, and seat-rumbling enhanced bass without overdriving your headphones or speaker setups (even without a subwoofer!). Try it. You'll like it. EXPAND TO LEARN MORE

Best used to bring out the effect of explosions, machine gun fire, roar of ancient beasts that rumbles your very bones, the Bass extends the low-end frequencies of your audio by optimizing the use of the frequencies to enhance and deepen the bass response.

Speakers without Subwoofer or Headphones
On stereo speaker setups without a subwoofer, or on headphones, it provides bass redirection and amplification as well as psycho-acoustic processing for a fuller, deeper low frequency response.

Intelligently measures and contain sudden spikes in volume changes across platforms and apps to deliver a consistent listening experience. If you are someone who is streaming music on Spotify in the background, simultaneously alt-tabbing out to YouTube to check on walkthroughs, all while communicating on Skype with your friends, Smart Volume is a godsend. EXPAND TO LEARN MORE

What Smart Volume does is that it automatically and continuously measures volume across and within different programs, and intelligently applies gain and attenuation to compensate for those sudden changes.

To dive deeper, Smart Volume utilizes a series of processing modules to analyze audio content up to 7.1 channels. It also uses an algorithm to control the attack and release of the overall volume of the content with a smart ramping process.

In addition, the Loud mode is designed to boost overall signal levels to allow maximum volume without clipping the overall frequency response, while the Night mode adds a gentle equalized curve to compensate typical human hearing at low volumes.
