Theneed is easy to understand: if I have no certainty of completeness, integrity and the possibility of being able to restore the backup when necessary, it is useless for me to do so, creating - moreover - a false expectation of security.
I am afraid that the error is due to the server not responding about the list of files sent by Duplicates to compare with its local list. If the list is not returned from the server or is only partially returned, Duplicati thinks the files are missing in the destination.
Some storage types are picky about slashes. You could start down a direct restore from backup files, far enough to see what it takes to at least pull up the backup date, and maybe even the view of available files. Some destination types expect forward slashes (not backslashes), and sometimes one is needed at end.
this helped me too.

Backup from local PC to webdav
got error of missing files on remote after 1. backup run ; backup was not finished
changed pfad delimeter from \ to / and re-run backup -->took seconds --> no error any more
I found it confusing that the connection test worked successfully, but the actuall backup run creates error - should there be a hint on connection test?
thank you for the detailed answer. I am an end-user and unfortunately I am not familiar with programming.
I am not perfect in English and I had a little trouble finding a solution.
I registered here - also for the translation tool - to give my contribution. But I think that it is not made very easy for beginners.
I would like to write a German tutorial that explains the installation with my two German server providers. How do I proceed in a useful way here? Is there a german wiki or forum anywhere?
There are none maintained by the Duplicati project, but one never knows what independent sites exist.
Possibly the search engine you usually use could find something if it can search for German language.
There are also quite a few people posting Duplicati German messages. Perhaps one of them will help.
Sorry, but I consider this a BUG! It took me three full days of testing and googling to find out that the backup itself works with backslashes in the path (you can see the files show up in the webdav-drive) but the list-command only work with slashes.
sorry, I stumbled around the web to find a solution and here in this thread I found the hint with the slashes first. After that I was able to google more, but because nothing in the gui gave me a clue that the syntax of the path might be a problem, it was a poking in the mist before this thread.
So I wanted to give others in the context of this thread more info. and Keywords to find this thread.
This experience taught me the importance of starting with a clean slate in your backup destination, especially when setting up a new Duplicati configuration or moving from a test to a production environment.
I think that to know what might be happening, it would be helpful to distinguish between files not being put to remote storage, versus them being put then disappearing, versus them being there but somehow not found.
Another question would be how and when the USB drive is mounted then unmounted. Do missing files occur when a backup is re-run in quick succession (maybe with intentional file change) while drive stays attached?

Summarize your bug The game on Steam is not saving for me. At the very beginning the message SAVE FAILED appears. And then when I want to start the game a window pops up. Problem with Steam remote storage. Is there any solution to this problem? The situation has repeated itself on two laptops.
What is your 16 digit Report Code?
Can you please provide the name of your current internet service provider?
Which area is the bug/glitch in? Single Player
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Idk
What happens when the bug occurs? My game don't save anything so i can't play even carrer mode.
What do you expect to see? Solution
Does a check in the Web UI return the same error? It looks like your snapshot file snapshots/DL380_G6_Alpha/744 (revision 744) on the sftp storage is 0 bytes. Are you able to verify that manually by listing the directory? If it is 0 bytes, you may have to delete it manually and do a fresh check.
Hi, @skshetry not sure if this was solved but I encountered the same issue. I followed along with the remote storage setup. However, one difference is that I did not use dvc add because I had written the dependencies and outputs directly in the dvc.yaml file. Secondly, I only allowed dvc access / permission to see, create, and delete its own configuration data. If I need to change the dvc permissons, how do I do that after the initial setup?
Thanks for your message. In my case, I was able to restore files if my original media was not available. My main concern (and I do not know if I misconfigure something)is if both media (Original and Copy) are available, if I want to restore files from the Copy (so the remote media) : I have an error saying that no Volume Names were found.Ideally, I could use local or remote storage daemon without an issue... But not in my actual configuration.Regards,Nicolas
I know what tool this is, a DYNAMIC RENAME TOOL, so can't workout the issue. I use the same set-up to connect SFTP files on three other connections and the error is a Remote File Not found to only one.
Are you trying to download a file from an SFTP or send a file up to an SFTP? If you are trying to download a file from the SFTP, your error most likely is due to a typo or extra space in the URL that you are trying to pull from. Can you check to confirm that the path is exactly as it should be?
Can you confirm that the rename tool has ID 35? You should be able to click on the price tag looking icon to confirm. The reason that I ask is that an error transferring data, remote file not found normally wouldn't be related to a dynamic rename tool.
Hi im having an issue setting up remote storage, we know the keys are correct as we can add attachment via another route using the keys, the Bucket name is correct, is the issue with the end point or the Region?
Hi All
I have 2 gateways - on gateway A there is history tag provider (type "DB table historian") with connection to the sql_lite database and on the server B there is remote tag provider pointing to the history tag provider on the server A.
First, a word of caution. This isn't a great Idea if you intend to use the system for any decent period of time. Sql_lite is intended for very light duty and if you build up the data very much, eventually you'll choke your gateway. If you need a free database you can use PostgresSQL or Maria DB.
That does make it sound like a permissions issue on server A is preventing storage by server B Your first post suggests you have the bases covered. If you'd like to share screenshots of security zone, service security, and remote history provider settings, maybe we'll see something. Alternatively, you could contact support to have a look.
UpdraftPlus is the leading and most popular WordPress backup plugin globally, with over 3 million active installations. Users worldwide trust this plugin to securely back up their WordPress sites, including files and databases, for potential restoration in case of emergencies.
This typically happens because the new plugin loads its own versions of JavaScript libraries or cloud storage APIs on the UpdraftPlus page. These can prevent UpdraftPlus from initiating a backup or uploading backup files to remote storage.
In cases where files are too large to upload, this can be caused by some plugins creating databases or files that are several hundreds of MB large. Such oversized files can cause UpdraftPlus to time out and not complete the backup.
Expert tip: If a file is excessively large and keeps causing problems, consider excluding this specific file from the backup process. We also highly recommend using a WordPress optimization plugin like WP-Optimize to help reduce the size of any large databases or files you may be trying to back up. WP-Optimize is a free and highly rated plugin that offers effective database cleanup functionalities to streamline your backup process.
To find the necessary file, you will need FTP access to the server for a PHP log (also applied to remote storage). The WP Debug log, containing error information, can typically be found at the following location.

When creating a container, you should set the access level to private, so only users or accounts that can provide the required authentication information can read or write the blobs in the container.
For SQL Server databases on an instance of SQL Server running in an Azure Virtual Machine, use a storage account in the same region as the virtual machine to avoid data transfer costs between regions. Using the same region also ensures optimal performance for backup and restore operations.
Failed backup activity can result in an invalid backup file. We recommend periodic identification of failed backups and deleting the blob files. For more information, see Deleting Backup Blob Files with Active Leases.
The SQL Server backup operation uses multiple threads to optimize data transfer to Azure Blob Storage. However the performance depends on various factors, such as ISV bandwidth and size of the database. If you plan to back up large databases or filegroups from an on-premises SQL Server database, you should do some throughput testing first. Azure SLA for Storage has maximum processing times for blobs that you can take into consideration.
