Where does name Tern come from?

Hi, I might try learning JavaScript and use Tern to assist in this.

But, how does name come about? I.e., the eytmology, or perhaps some convention/trends as we see in:

Java, CoffeeScript, JavaSript, ...
Perl, Ruby, ...
B, C, ...

A tern is a small sea bird that drops into the water from above and
emerges with a fish. You can envision Tern as diving into some murky
scripts and emerging with a type.
