AutoCADis computer-aided design (CAD) software that is used for precise 2D and 3D drafting, design, and modeling with solids, surfaces, mesh objects, documentation features, and more. It includes features to automate tasks and increase productivity such as comparing drawings, counting, adding objects, and creating tables. It also comes with seven industry-specific toolsets for electrical design, plant design, architecture layout drawings, mechanical design, 3D mapping, adding scanned images, and converting raster images. AutoCAD enables users to create, edit, and annotate drawings via desktop, web, and mobile devices.

AutoCAD LT is powerful 2D CAD software used for precision drafting and documentation. AutoCAD includes all the features of AutoCAD LT, plus additional features to benefit productivity such as 3D modeling and automation of repetitive processes. AutoCAD also lets you customize the user interface with APIs and add-on apps. With AutoCAD, users are able work more efficiently with seven industry-specific toolsets to enhance automation and productivity for tasks in architecture, mechanical design, electrical design, plant design, plumbing, converting raster images, geographic information systems, and 3D mapping.

Autodesk provides download and install instructions for individuals and administrators. Your available downloads appear in Autodesk Account. Find your product, select a version, platform, language, and download method. For more information, visit the Autodesk Knowledge Network.

Your AutoCAD subscription gives you access to install and use the three previous versions of AutoCAD. Available downloads are listed in your Autodesk Account after subscribing. See also previous releases available for subscribers.

AutoCAD is a commercial computer-aided design (CAD) and drafting software application by Autodesk. The first release of the software started with version 1.0 in December 1982.[1] The software has been continuously updated since its initial release.

AutoCAD opens documents with DWG compatibility as a "DWG file format version code" where the specific version code can be found by opening the .dwg file in Windows Notepad or any text editor program. The file format version code is dependent on the AutoCAD version.[2]

I am terrible at searching Google for things I need to learn. For example, typing the title of this thread into google gets me information on determining the drawing version, but that isnt what I want.

that will spit back a number that corresponds to the current version of AutoCAD. I then can use this number to make sure that some programs load in that version, while others do not, so on so forth. When I convert it back to a string, it then allows me to set a path and not need to manually update it with every release.

Now my current problem is, I'm trying to learn how to do coding in .net. I cannot find anywhere how to get a value for the current year version of AutoCAD. I'd like to do the same thing, so that it does not require me to hard code paths with every release.

Is anyone able to give me a hand with pointing me in the direction of reference materials that I can use to determine what I even have available function-wise, and if there is a way to get a version year?

yeah, I can always use a conversion, nothing seems to be available for .net that is as simple as what I can do with LISP. Ultimately the goal is to not have to open up the code and modify it every release (to add the next conversion) With (VER) in LISP, it always changes in each release and contains the actual release year, so no conversion required. Can you call lisp functions from .net? Perhaps I could run a small LISP function to get the year for me and store it in a global VB.NET variable.

I've read a long thread about how Cad 2019 now has reintegrated the ability to detect student version created files, but no where can I find how to detect these components within the file. From what I understand, even though I am NOT using a student version 2014 cad program, if at some point a consultant used an Edu version to create file, title block, etc and it was inserted into my file then the Edu stamp will show up when someone using the 2019 Cad version opens the file. I want to be able to find and remove any components of the files [created using Edu versions] I receive from others or ask them to remove them before I use them in my files. Is there a command to 'search and destroy' these blocks, etc within my file that were created using an Edu format.

I don't want to remove the EDU stamp I just want to identify which of our drawings have been created with an EDU version so I can tell that particular consultant that we need to have the files not be saved with an EDU version. I was under the impression that if there was a block created in an EDU version and it was brought into a commercial version and one saved in the commercial version that now that whole file would be identified as an EDU file and it would have issues for its lifetime.
