Terminator lauching error

I am trying to start Terminator on my Windows 10 desktop under MobaXterm. I had downloaded the terminator.amd64.tar.gz  .

On launching I get the following error:-

Please send us the contents of the application log, from /home/mobaxterm/.terminator/logs/terminator-1707.log.

An idea of what you were doing when Java exited might be useful.

By starting it from another terminal, I think you’ve done as I learned I should suggest in our recent conversation on this list with Stefan Neubach.  Most of my other suggestions there don’t convincingly apply to Cygwin, though looking for an hs_err pid file might.  I just looked through all the changes since that 2019 build.  I was surprised how many there were but nothing grabbed me as being likely to reveal any previously silent failure, at least not when run from another terminal.  I think I’d have to try it myself, which would mean finding a Windows installation where I could install Cygwin and Java.  I think I know one…
