Hi.

Do we really need 'update-login-record'? Personally, I really couldn't care less about whether the system logs my opening of a new terminal window, and I'd be perfectly happen to lose the suid binary (and the need to type in my password again). Is there any good reason not to just ditch the thing?

Cheers,
Phil

You type the password every time you build?  Ouch.  Feel free to add an option to not do the sudo, perhaps SUDO = true as “true chmod” silently succeeds or just change your copy of the .cpp, which you’re unlikely to want otherwise to check in, to not mention pututxline, if you’re not getting any value from it.  GitHub didn’t follow renames, making it unnecessarily hard to find the original commit:

... which had enough about the motivation for me to find the RFE:

Hi.

Sorry, the 'password every build' was a wild exaggeration. Still annoying though. But from the links you provided (thanks for digging those up), it seems there's a very good reason to have the update-login-record program. Ah well, no deletions today.

Cheers,
Phil
