Dear Teridon

I'm desperately looking for a script for iTunes for Windows, which
allows me to propagate the current view options as set in
corresponding menu to all already existing playlists.
Would greatly appreciate it and be willing to pay some dimes for that.

Could you try something like that? Since it is a big flaw iTunes
missing such a feature, I'm sure there would be more users waiting for
such a help. With over 50 or more playlists reimported after new OS
installation, it is just too much manual work to set all playlists to
correct view options again...

Thanks for any feedback and kind regards
McYoda

McYoda,

I feel your pain. I once investigated doing this myself, because,
like you, I wanted the same view in all my playlists.

Unfortunately, the view options for each list are not directly
settable via the Apple-provided COM interface.

The only way to change the playlist view pro grammatically seems to be
to edit the preferences file (or maybe it's the Library file, I can't
remember exactly) directly. And, since the file format isn't
documented, this would QUITE a chore to figure out. Maybe someone has
already done it, but I haven't heard about it.

Things may have changed since the last time I looked, but I'm not optimistic.

I'm curious, have you noticed -- when you import a playlist, does
iTunes use the current view settings for the imported playlist, or
does it use some default? If it uses the same settings as the current
playlist, then maybe you can just import the playlists again (after
setting the view options).
