I'm trying to create a simple multi-version hello World plug-in for Revit and I've found this article which I'm trying to follow along. however, I'm not getting very far. I'm not so familiar with how the .csproj file works. I've created plugins before for individual Revit years but not multi-versions.
Thanks to your post, I have learned something about multi version plug-in. Now, for the direct question, you can debug your class library by starting Revit when you start debug process. And the setting is as follow:
(Your model contains multiple groups of repeating elements that exist as linked Revit models. As you work in the main model, you can convert the linked models to groups to make edits. This allows you to make edits to linked models in context of the main model. When you finish modifying the group, you can convert it back to a link.)
I'm an undergraduate student studying structural engineering and I'm very interested in BIM. I can model using Revit and Navisworks. I have worked on multiple projects for delivering an integrated BIM model. But I want to learn how to make custom plugins for Revit and become a BIM software developer. Currently, I'm learning Dynamo and computer science basics (took Harvard's cs50x introduction to CS). Any recommendations for what I can do next and what to focus on?

When working in a multilingual environment not all objects are automatically translated. For example, when you are working with a model package with languages English and Dutch. When objects are added when working in the English language, these same objects will turn up blank when the Dutch language is used.
There is a script available that will copy the translations of the default language to the other languages. Since it adds translations and in essence changes your model package, it is recommended that you create a backup before running the script.
I would just create the packages for all languages but Trados would not let me because I've already generated target files for the other two languages and this leads to an error message (BTW, does anyone know why am I not allowed to do so anyway - or at least get a chance to display/deselect the corr. files ...?)
And also, is there a way to display / select all the files in a project (XLIFFS of all languages) so I can, for example, filter/sort for the files of specific languages (more than one apparantly) or sort all the files according to their status?
Unfortunatly, I don't completely understand your procedure. The first two steps are general, aren't they? Or are you saying that I can start batch jobs for selected languages from the project settings?
I already have created the project and have all the languages ready. What happens is that when I try to create the packages from the "projects" view (in order to create packages for all languages at once, as in your screen 4), I get an error message:
I thought that was because I already have created target files for 2 of the languages... So I wondered why I don't at least get the creation window with the remaining languages or to select the languages I want to create packages for. And then I wondered whether there is another way to create the package for multiple selected languages....
So there is no way to create project packages for multiple selected languages in my case, right? it's all or nothing so to speak if I don't revert back to XLIFF (even if I don't need to send these files out..)

In the window editor with an instance of my template: Dropped instance of my template in the window. 1st save, no errors. 2nd and subsequent saves, error each time. Dragged an instance of my UDT and dropped into the template (checked the binding, its good). Save, get the error.

The label in the template displays the correct text. 2nd save produces the same error. 3rd save, no error, 4th save same error (and it repeats). Each time it errors I get this message in the designer console window: (I only pasted the first few lines of the trace)

I've associated .xul with Notepad++ so if I double-click on a .xul file, it will open in Notepad++. But Notepad++ doesn't know that XUL is just a particular type of XML, so I then have to manually click on "Language > XML" to get XML syntax highlighting. Is there a way that I can tell it: "every time you open a file with the extension .xul, automatically switch to the XML language"?
langs.xml is used for built-in languages (like C++ and XML). To find the current "in-built" file types associated with XML, search for name="xml". In the ext section you will find the file types that use XML syntax highlight. In v7.8.6, xul is already assigned to XML so no action is required.
stylers.xml is used for the actual styling applied to each language. It is also where user extensions (User ext.) are saved. To see the extra extensions that have been assigned to XML, search for name="xml".
