In general, however, data recovery software is safe and can be a helpful tool if you've lost important files with intuitive graphic user interface. However, it's essential to be careful when using these programs, as they can sometimes cause more damage to your device. If you're unsure whether it's safe to use data recovery software, it's always best to consult with a professional.

Data recovery software is a program that can be used to recover lost or deleted files from your computer. When a file is deleted, the data is not actually erased from your hard drive. Instead, the file space occupied is simply marked as empty and available for new data. As long as the old data is not overwritten, it can be recovered using special software. Data recovery tools work by scanning your hard drive for any traces of the lost data. Once they have located the data, they can then rebuild the files and save them to a new location. In most cases, data recovery software can successfully recover lost files with little to no damage. However, if the data has been overwritten, it will be much more difficult to recover.

If the password feature is enabled and you forget the password there is no back door entry to unlock the drive. You can format the drive, which will perform a secure erase (drive wipe) and data recovery will NOT be possible. Moreover, if you want to use Secure Access again then you need to first format your flash drive after taking back up of all your data which is in your flash drive.

I downloaded 2 free software recovery apps/programs from safari in panic because I lost a file I needed for a final exam. But I didn't really take a minute to think that it could be dangerous. Now that the final is over, I uninstalled them but it seemed like one of the programs came back up the next time I was on my laptop. I finally went away after the second uninstallation, but I'm just slightly concerned that there could be issues/the program isn't safe. Thoughts?

Well, there is no way to have any "thoughts" when you don't provide any information. I have no idea if "any" software recovery app could be dangerous. Did you by it at the app store? Or download it from an unknown site? You'd have to tell us the names at the very least.

Again, in my haste I was pretty thoughtless about the source of the programs. One is called EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard, and it is from easeus.com. Another is called Disk Drill and it is from cleverfiles.com. Not the most promising in terms of safety, I imagine.

I had uninstalled them. Disk Drill has since never come back and has given me no obvious cause for concern. EaseUS, however, will sporadically show back up on my desktop screen, and I basically have to eject it to remove it. That has me more worried.

We need specific info because there are many apps, some may be ok and others not. Also, the source of the download is important - from the app store is best, directly from the developer mostly ok, but other download sites advertising free stuff which costs money elsewhere are to be avoided. Disk Drill is well known and should be fine. Never heard of the other one, so I have no opinion except, while doing a search on it, I came across something that said that it will automatically encrypt while trying to recover data. That, to me, is not acceptable unless I would be able to opt out of that.

So, I suggest you contact them and ask about proper uninstall methods on a Mac which do not leave bits and pieces behind and then try that. The radical solution is to erase the entire drive and start over, so let's try the easier route first.

I have used a free app for some time which quickly and easily completely uninstalls any app you put into its window. it is called AppCleaner. Simple and easy to use. I see no reason to erase the hard drive.

Rather than downloading another third party app, I prefer using the developer's uninstall instructions. And, given what that app does, if it cannot be removed completely (as it is, it keeps re-appearing), it may be the best to erase the hard drive.

Cleaning apps are not necessary on a Mac and they usually cause more problems than they solve. I've seen several posts here where "AppCleaner" was the source of the user's problems. It is better to either manually rip the offending files from the system or better yet reinstall macOS or restore to an earlier backup.

EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard Free is a tool exclusively dedicated to recovering files that you thought were lost to the darkest and most inaccessible depths of your computer. It's important to keep in mind that the less time that passes between the deletion of a file and your attempt to recover it, the better your chances of success.

First of all, the app makes it easy to recover any file that you've deleted by using the classic keyboard shortcut 'shift+Delete,' which typically destroys your files without first putting them in the trash. If you emptied the recycling bin while an important file was inside it, on the other hand, you can also recover it with relative ease.

Likewise, you can try to recover any document lost during the process of formatting your hard drive. This applies even in cases where you've reinstalled Windows, which is unfortunately quite common. You can even recover missing or damaged files after a system crash or partition crash. In these cases, the loss of documents is fairly likely.

Even if your computer suffers a power failure during the process of writing a partition, you can recover the contents of the partition without a problem. In these cases, it's typical to receive error messages when reading the contents of the disk. If this happens, EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard Free can usually take care of it without too much trouble.

EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard Free is one of the best document recovery softwares available for Windows. It has a wide range of features, an organized and accessible interface, and the confidence that comes from using a program that has helped users all over the world since 2005.

With EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard you can search for data that has been accidentally deleted, formatted or saved incorrectly and, if necessary, reconstruct it. You can get back deleted and overwritten ...

Uptodown is a multi-platform app store specialized in Android. Our goal is to provide free and open access to a large catalog of apps without restrictions, while providing a legal distribution platform accessible from any browser, and also through its official native app.

1.) Look for the AutoRecover folder: By default, Microsoft Word saves a copy of unsaved documents in the AutoRecover folder. To access this folder, open Word, click on "File" in the top left corner, and then select "Options." Next, click on "Save" in the left-hand menu, and look for the "AutoRecover file location" field. Note down the location and navigate to the folder in File Explorer.

2.) Search for temporary files: If the AutoRecover folder doesn't have your unsaved document, try searching for temporary files. Please open File Explorer and navigate to the following folder:

3.) Check the Recycle Bin: If you accidentally deleted the document, it may still be in the Recycle Bin. Open the Recycle Bin by double-clicking on its icon on the desktop and see if you can find the document there.

4.) Use file recovery software: If none of the above steps work, you can try using file recovery software such as Recuva, EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard, or Disk Drill. These programs can scan your hard drive for deleted or lost files and help you recover them.

Note that the chances of recovering an unsaved Word document depend on various factors, such as how much time has passed since the document was last saved, whether you have closed the application or not, and whether the file has been overwritten or not.

Thank you so much for your help, means a lot. However, I have tried everything. It's so weird because on my settings the automatic time to save any document was 10 minutes. I understand that was my fault that I haven't click on AutoSave so now I wouldn't have to deal with this drama. It's university work and I just lost so important notes, ideas etc. I was working almost every day on this document and it was still off of Autosave and I was still able to open it and still find it. Suddenly, today disappear. I still have the word but the very old ones, before I did any changes or write more. Even if the AutoSaved was off, I supposed to still be able to find the word document as every single day without losing all of this. I really don't know what to do next. I haven't tried any application in order to recover my data because i find them pricey. On google it keep saying that there is no chance you unsaved, deleted or lost something from Word because it has the capability to recover it. However, looks I'm very unlucky. Any further help would be much appreciated.
