I am a school nurse with a teen student who received chemo in 2005,
for a mediastinal tumor. He came with very little medical
instructons, though he does receive followup medical attention. Are
there any "everyday" things I might keep in mind to support/monitor
this student? Family is divided and scarce.

Chemo alone? That sounds unusual.

Probably not, if he is now in observation only, but if there are any
particular issues the student's physician would be the best person
to consult. Or consult the teen himself. At some point (soon?) he
will need to take up the "patient" role in his medical management.

If you are in the US, you can also get good general information by
e-mail, online chat, or phone from www.cancer.gov, 1-800-4-CANCER.
