Meet Ed Weber - Pro Set Up Technician for BanjoTeacher.com
Ed worked for Gibson Banjos for 25 years starting in the late 80's and helped design and build Gibson Banjos during that time. I feel very blessed to have him, not only as a highly skilled pro but as a friend and co-worker. Ed takes great pride in everything he does and it really shows in the tremendous feed back and satisfaction I receive back from my banjo customers. You can count on Ed to give you the very best banjo set up when ordering this banjo from Banjoteacher.com
Gold Tone OB-300
This gold-plated beauty has all the spec wanted on a high-end profession banjo. It has a curly maple neck and matching curly maple/abalone binding combine for a highly decorative 5-string. The sand-cast bell bronze tone ring is used in only the best banjos and provides a loud penetrating tone. A unique abalone/pearl truss rod cover matches the exquisite inlay throughout the banjo.
The OB-300 uses the modified tree of life inlay on the fingerboard so the banjo player can easily deter- mine the fret positions. Notice the fingerboard has flowers on the landmark fret positions and only vines on other positions. Simple but effective, and only the player knows the difference!

ARCHIVED TOPIC: Question about Flinthill Banjo
Please note this is an archived topic, so it is locked and unable to be replied to. You may, however, start a new topic and refer to this topic with a link:
I am interested in a buying a nice Flinthill banjo for around $750 - I was told that they are actually extra RKs that were made in China - they are kind of an overstock RK that is rebranded and that has the same quality as the RKs but for much cheaper.
I have a Flinthill that is on loan to a friend right now that I've had for a couple of years. I have always been very pleased with both the sound and quality of it. Mine doesn't have a tone ring, so it's fairly quiet, but it makes a great banjo for beginners/intermediates, jamming or playing in the house. $750 might be a bit steep though, depending on the model.
