Hi folks,
We're going to have an amazing concert on 11/21! Things get busy,
so we want to get this date on parents' calendars now. (And advance
tickets need to be purchased by 10/31 to save $$ - - don't forget to
get yours!)
Below is a blurb about the concert. Please submit it to your school
newsletter and also let your fourth grade teachers know about it so
that they can encourage students to attend if they feel comfortable
w/ that.
If the blurb is too long, please feel free to leave out the quotes
at the end.
Thanks very much,
Beth
Sister City Concert
Bring the whole family to enjoy a concert entitled "Our
Global Village" in support of Arlington's friendship with
its two sister cities: Teosinte, El Salvador, and
Nagaokakyo, Japan. Teosinte and Nagaokakyo have been
Arlington's sister cities for over 20 years, and these
friendships enrich our schools in many ways, including a
fourth grade curriculum about life in Teosinte.
On Sunday, November 21st at 3 p.m., please join the singers
of the Family Folk Chorale, ages 3-80, in a concert that
connects the dots between villages around the world.
Through folk songs that are both deep and fun, new and
familiar, we will explore the concept of world harmony as
envisioned here in the U.S. in the music of Bob Marley, John
Lennon and U2, as well as tunes from Latin America, Africa,
Asia, and the Middle East. Special guests Sol y Canto will
delight with their pan-Latin tunes.
Baked goods,
and textiles sewn in Teosinte will be available for sale at
the concert. Proceeds to benefit high school and college
scholarships for youth in Teosinte.
Tickets are $12
at the door, or $10 before October 31st. Call 781-648-3737
or visit www.familyfolkchorale.org.
Town Hall is handicap accessible.
What the critics
say…
“I’ve always said that people
singing together creates an atmosphere of happiness– and the Family Folk Chorale
proves it! It’s a joy to be in the same room with them.”
–Ellen Kushner, host of PRI’s Sound and Spirit
"Sublime
ambassadors of pan-Latin tradition. . .Sol y Canto is
… destined for international renown … Rosi has a voice like
clean spring water: it's smooth, it's clear and, somehow, you
come to believe that it's necessary for life." - The Boston Globe
