Hi everyone,
Today I received the translated letters from AHS. They look great! I’m having them photocopied, and they will be ready for distribution by the end of this week.
A couple of things about them:
- There are 26 letters in total. Each classroom will receive a copy of the original letters in Spanish, as well as the translations
- Almost all of the letters have drawings with them
- The letters were written by kids in Teosinte from many different grades/ages. Some letters are short; some are long. It’s worth reminding the teachers that the respondents are not all from 4th grade so that they aren’t surprised by the range in writing style and length of letter.
Next steps:
- Please let your teachers know that the letters will be available by next week. That way they can begin to plan a “mini fiesta” or whatever they wish to do when they hand them back.
- I will have the packets of letters ready to hand out at our 4/7 meeting. If no one from your school can come to that meeting or if you need the letters sooner, let me know and we can make other arrangements.
Thanks very much!
Beth

Thanks for that question, Evelyne. Each classroom will get a copy of all 26 letters and the many drawings. Some of the letters are addressed to the individual children who wrote from Arlington, and some are addressed to “Arlington friend.”
