Asa curious newbie I went into downloading mode in my Samsung Galaxy S3 by pressing Vol down+center Home+power button. After that I got options to press Vol up key to continue and Vol down key to cancel. Out of sheer curiosity and thinking I can exit anytime I pressed Vol up key and the very infamous "downloading do not turn off" screen sits with the green Android logo.

All this was done without any cable attached to my computer since I don't want to root or flash my ROM. I just was curious as to what happens next. Now the screen just waited for Odin to connect, however I did not since after connecting I am unsure if there is no direct exit option from Odin without flashing ROM and not doing anything (in other words a simple exit from Odin with no rooting and no flashing and nothing happens).

Next I tried to go into recovery mode and tried all combinations of keys to exit this "downloading" mode but I failed. The power naturally went down as I was reading through many help articles and I put in another battery and now the phone doesn't turn on at all now; there is no reaction and it does not go into recovery mode either. Now I am in a soup as I want my photos and messages to be recovered (no external SD storage used)

If my phone waits on "downloading don't turn off target screen", then how do I simply exit this mode? Should I connect to Odin (highly risky) and exit? (I don't know what will happen.) Does connecting to Odin necessarily mean that I have to flash my ROM?

Alternatively, reflashing the recovery may be worth trying. When you mentioned Odin, is reflashing the recovery what you had in mind? As you mention Odin, this might be a useful tutorial. [HOWTO] Install /e/ on a Samsung smartphone with Windows easily. Do ask again but a recovery.img, that is TWRP, can be found - via - here:

Replacing TWRP with no user errors, will leave all the contents of the phone untouched. Odin is a Samsung product, so might tend to draw you to return to Samsung, so just follow the tutorial with care and you will have no problems !

I guess the long [HowTO] might have looked a bit daunting, but reflashing TWRP is not hard and is only a very small part of that full tutorial. Please study only Sections 4, 5 and 6. I will not rehash any of that information, it was written by an expert, there are points where you have to be very precise, but it is not hard if you stay on course.

So, first, we just need to be sure you can boot into Download mode successfully. Once you do that hero2lte should be displayed in tiny print top left. (You can do this before you do any downloads, hopefully will be nice to see the phone in a stable mode again !)

While experimenting with Boot modes, you might as well try to see if the phone might possibly boot into Recovery mode. Seems unlikely, but silly not to try, as if successful that would give us other options.

That would not be a good way to approach this, as we cannot be sure a Samsung ROM would not overwrite the internal memory. You would recover the phone for sure, photos unlikely. If we really cannot fix /e/ I would be disappointed.

Of course you do not want to overwrite the system. Your reported error is that Recovery was not found / could not be read. So we propose just to replace the damaged Recovery, a relatively small part of the total software.)

We are having a problem with connecting the phone to the MacBook computer. We have downloaded JOdin3 and Samsung driver, but when we open JOdin3, and connect the phone to the laptop via cable, it fails to connect to the phone while the phone is in the Download mode.

We got the right firmware version for the right region. We were able to connect to the phone. However, Odin shows the Fail message and in the log, it says

Complete(Write) operation failed.

All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)

In trying to think of an answer today I am sorry but I am out of ideas. The action proposed by Samsung will definitely delete the photos. I have really no idea what the exact chances are that the photos remain.

If you might still be pursuing this and you are more familiar with a Mac, you might have a means of connecting with the phone like this Samsung S7 Edge fail to open recovery_cause(No such file or directory) loop - #9 by aibd - or did you try and fail?

I have a really old samsung s2 2011 phone and i wonder if it is compatible with public mobile as public mobile isn't listed as a network. When i look at network mode it says gsm/hspa/lte. I don't know if that helps. It previously worked with bell. I thought it might be locked but i never received an unlock message when i put in the sim card. I checked and the sim card is in properly. It says public mobile on the home page.

Good news! Public mobile works on the other phone. I was pretty mad at rogers as the phone was locked and as it was an old work phone they wouldn't unlock it. I followed the trick i read of contacting samsung chat and they unlocked it. That s6 must have definitely been past 2017 so it shouldn't have been locked. In any event i'm not sure i want to go to the work of fixing the other phone. It is too bad as it had a good battery.

Another thing to try would be to put your SIM card in another working phone. Just to rule out a PM service issue. If it works in another phone, then we know for certain that it is a hardware setup issue.

Usually, the default setting for selecting cellular network in any phone is set to automatic. However, you can also choose it manually, and this method is applicable to any Android phone. Follow these steps to solve the mobile network not available problem.

@christinand according to this site, _i9100_galaxy_s_ii-3621.php it will work for talking and texting. You should get data on a 3g network, but not on 4g. You will receive no emergency warnings. Welcome to PM. Stay safe.

Odin Mode, also called Download Mode affects only Samsung phones and is different from Android Recovery Mode. With this, users can easily flash firmware or desktop software on Samsung phones.

One of the best and highly suggested tools to fix the error and that is by using a third-party tool like Android Repair. This is one of the best and effective way to fix Samsung phone stuck on Odin mode. This will help your device to return to normal and can be accessed further.

When force restarting your device does not solve the error then you should try other methods as well. Wait for the battery to drain completely and restart your device. But this may take more time, so remove the battery from the device to force stop it.

When the above steps do not work for you then only one option left and that is the local store. Yes, take your Samsung phone to the local store to fix Samsung phone stuck in Odin mode. This can be the best way to get rid of the error.

Samsung Odin Mode is easy to enter and exit as well but sometimes, it stuck on the same screen, and trouble starts for the user. However, in this blog, I have tried to give you the best ways to fix Samsung phone stuck on Download mode and hope, you can easily get out of it.
