Greenest Block in Brooklyn

Brooklyn’s friendliest contest for 30 years and counting!

Get in on the fun and enter your block by June 1.

Have you heard of BBG’s Greenest Block in Brooklyn contest? Now celebrating its 30th anniversary, this borough-wide competition is for everyone! Get together with neighbors and make valuable community connections while you make your block greener, healthier, and more vibrant.

The contest is free and open to all residential and commercial blocks in Brooklyn. Winners across all contest categories—announced in August—receive prizes for their efforts.

Here’s how to get started!

  • Gather your neighbors and start a block association or ad hoc group—here’s how to do it!
  • Attend a workshop for tips on how to green your block.
  • Sign up by June 1! Complete a short registration form online and get greening!
