Arkansas residents who are 60 years of age or older ("senior citizens") are encouraged to enroll tuition-free in existing for-credit courses based on the availability of space. College courses engage older learners in challenging and intellectually stimulating programs, and Senior Razorbacks lend wisdom and experience to traditional students in an academic environment. Visit or call the Office of Undergraduate Admissions today for more details about becoming a Senior Razorback.

Arkansas residents 60 years of age or older may apply either as an undergraduate or graduate student for on-campus and online credit courses by paying all non-tuition applicable fees. Senior students who meet admission requirements may be admitted as degree or non-degree seeking. All colleges require the instructor's permission for students seeking to audit prior to taking a class. Senior citizens who do not wish to register on a space available basis during the senior citizen registration period may pay tuition and register during priority registration.

Local governments and school districts in New York State can opt to grant a reduction on the amount of property taxes paid by qualifying senior citizens. This is accomplished by reducing the taxable assessment of the senior's home by as much as 50%.

Manufactured homes: Manufactured homes on leased land can qualify for the senior citizens exemption. If home is located in a manufactured home park, you are entitled to a reduction in rent for the amount of the taxes paid.

Senior citizens are generally not eligible for the senior citizens exemption if they have children living in their home and attending public school. If the child attends a private or parochial school, the senior can still receive the exemption.

The law governing the senior citizens exemption was amended in 2023. For information regarding these changes, see Changes to the senior citizens exemption and the exemption for persons with disabilities and limited incomes in the 2023-2024 Enacted State Budget.

Only legal residents of Oklahoma for six months preceding application date, who intend to remain permanent residents of Oklahoma, may obtain a lifetime license. Any resident of Oklahoma born before January 1, 1923 is exempt from purchasing a hunting and/or fishing license and receives the benefits of the senior citizen lifetime license.

Alaska senior residents planning to sportfish for species with annual limits must obtain a free Sport Fishing Harvest Record Card (PDF 94 kB), available online, at license vendors, and at Fish and Game offices, in order to record their harvest of those fish.
