Hochtief wins Qatar's 8-km-long mall deal

Germany's Hochtief will build an 8-km-long shopping centre in Qatar
for more than 1.3 billion euros ($1.71 billion), the biggest single
order ever for its Construction Division, it said on Monday.

The Barwa Commercial Avenue project is set to be completed by mid-2012
for a group of investors that includes the Qatar government with a 45
percent stake, it said.

The contract for the complex in Qatar's capital Doha was signed
Sunday.

Barwa Commercial Avenue will be a centre for retail, office and
residential units. It will offer 900,000 sq m of gross floor space. -
