I downloaded the BIOS file from the HP support page, but instead of creating a USB stick, all it does is create a folder my my C drive containing InsydeFlash and a bunch of other files. It appears that InsydeFlash is a flashing utility that runs from Windows, but with the BIOS corrupted, I can't run Windows. Is there a way of making a bootable USB stick that I can use to reflash the BIOS?

Note that this does require another windows pc to open the bios-update executable, but there is no need to install windows on the target pc, nor do you need a windows recovery disk or windows-pe or any such thing.

Run the executable on the Windows system. Don't worry, it will not try to install the update, but it will open a utility that creates a bios recovery drive, as explained on the HP site. Follow the steps to create the USB recovery drive.

Hello

I have created this topic to discuss general problems related to Insyde H2O bios unlocking and flashing, i believe H2O Insyde bios is a real pain due to built-in security signature thats why it requires special attention and treatment.

@Lost_N_BIOS huge thanks for important information, it helps to understand the structure but how i can edit DLL?

P.S
I hold my programmer as a last resort, still hoping to flash the bios using software =D

4) I'm wondering, is your flash utility up to date? How old is your version? Might be wrong, but maybe there's no support for newer BIOSes in your utility (sounds stupid, I know, but I just try to make some ideas).

Mark...Thank you so much for this mod. I just received Gigabyte Aircruiser 300n and my laptop would not accept it.. So 5 hours later I'm up and running thanks to you. I have never hacked a bios but was ready and willing, finding the utilities and tools planning to follow your instructions. But whats even better, once I found this version of your post (its in several places with and without attachments), with your mod'd F.34 for C700 I just went with it. Piece of cake. moved out the HP version, moved in your version, flashed it, shut down, install new card, hit power button and...viola! Maybe 5 minutes total once I had your file! You da man!

I have an Aspire ES1-111M-C7DE whose battery is failing to charge. As a part of my efforts to remedy the problem, I am trying to flash the BIOS to 1.16. However, the InsydeFlash utility obtained from Acer's "Support & Downloads" page will not run the BIOS update until the battery is at least 15% charged. This introduces a "chicken and egg" scenario where the problem I'm trying to resolve with a BIOS update is directly obstructing the BIOS update.

NOTE: The flashing from DOS as described above will only update the BIOS, not the rest of the firmware. Therefore I strongly advise you to first flash the stock version of the bios you want by using the official update provided by Dell, and once that's done you can go ahead and flash the modified version of your bios by following the instructions above.

svl7, i would place a warning for those who have Modded Vbios, that it potentially causes the Bios flash to brick. I have your modded Vbios (900/1300/1.075V) followed your README and my bios bricked. When it automatically restarted fans were at fullspeed with constant beeps for around 10min with LEDS all lit up... Correct me if i'm wrong on this tho, thanks. I'm thinking i might have to pull the GPU before flash...

Yes, it was used to flash system Bios, if i decided to try and flash it again with the Unlocked A05 bios again or any future bios, ill pull GPU and see what happens, again if there are other potentials causing this issue please list them with known facts if possible, as this helps me go about a flash with all bases covered, thanks for the input.

I need to flash the BIOS, so I got it from the Acer site. It's an .EXE file. I tried FreeDOS, but it refused to run "in DOS mode". So I have created a WINPE disk. It boots into a command line, but if I run the .EXE file I got from the Acer site, it fails silently. I just get the prompt back, no windows pop up and the BIOS remains in its old version.
