I teach an Algebra 1 class to SpEd students needing GW credit. Last
year I never knew whether my students would be taking the EOC test or
the old GW test. In fact, I only had a final answer a couple of weeks
before we took the test. I spent almost all the year under the
assumption that they would be given the EOC test but it would be
somehow equated to GW levels. What actually happened was that they
took a Gateway test (similar to the old GW practice test) online.

So, this year I came in under the assumption that this would all be
the same. Today I'm told that my students will take a written EOC
test that will be once again graded as a GW test. After being
frustrated all last year, I never thought that I would go through this
again, but it appears that I am. Does anyone know if I've been
misinformed?

My understanding is that Sped and others will be allowed to take a Gateway style test on line if they have not yet passed it and are still under that set of graduation requirements. Dan O.

Mike,
Here is what I understand............if a student is enrolled in Algebra they must take the EOC, but if they entered school under the Gateway requriements, their test will be scored on a "Gateway" scale.  In those situations, we have had the students take both the online Gateway and the EOC.  If they have already earned the Algebra credit but have not passed the Gateway, then they only have to take the online Gateway test.  Clear as mud?!

Mike,
My students are taking the Gateway on-line May 10-11th. It IS the Gateway
not EOC scored differently.
