2025 NFIRS Sunset Reminder

Action Required: Verify Your 2025 NFIRS Data Before Sunset

As we near the end of January and the NFIRS sunset, it is critical that all departments review their 2025 NFIRS data to ensure completeness and accuracy.

Your diligence ensures accurate statewide fire data and supports critical analysis for future planning, funding, and is used for grant eligibility and scoring.

This is especially important for agencies utilizing RMS platforms such as ESO, I Am Responding, First Due, and others.

Please be aware:

  • Out of sight, out of mind can lead to missing or incomplete data.
  • Once NFIRS has sunseted, there will be no recourse to enter or correct data.
  • We have observed some departments reporting lower incident counts. While this may be expected for those who transitioned to NERIS earlier in 2025, it is essential that everyone verifies their data.

    Action Steps:
  • Review your department’s data in the attached 2025 Monthly Participation Report to confirm all 2025 incidents are submitted here.
  • If you use an RMS system, ensure all data has successfully been imported into NFIRS.
  • Address any discrepancies immediately to avoid gaps in reporting.

If you have questions or need assistance, please contact Fire Data Program Manager Kyle R. Evans at
    kyle.r...@tn.gov or (615) 253-2198.

Thank you for your attention to this important matter and for your continued service to our communities.
