Chief Phil Vinson was the President of the Tennessee Fire Chiefs Association term 1990-1991. After his retirement from the fire department, he became a Life Member of the association. We express our deepest condolences to the family during this time.

Phil Wayne Vinson Obituary
Phil Wayne Vinson, Retired Fire Chief, Bristol Tennessee Fire Department, passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at Bristol Health and Rehab. Phil was with the Fire Department for 42 years, serving as Chief for 30 years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran from 1957-1964 serving as a Combat Engineer.
Phil was a founding member of the Early Ford V8 Club Region #15 and Charter member of Old Glade Antique Tractor Association. He loved restoring antique cars and tractors, camping at Myrtle Beach and Davy Crockett Birthplace.
His parents Cleamon G. and Anna Ruth Vinson preceded Phil in death.
Phil is survived by his brother Fred Allen and wife Chae. Children April, Darek, Keelie husband Rick, Kendra husband Beau. Grandchildren, Greg, Tyler wife Bekah, Matthew wife Ashley, Ty, Annie. Great Grandchildren TJ, Emilee, Lily Grace, Mattie.
Phil leaves behind the love of his life Sharon Camper.
A procession of family and friends will leave Weaver Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, October 2, 2025, to Glenwood Cemetery for a graveside service with Pastor Michael Carrier, Chief, Bristol Tennessee Fire Department officiating. There will be no formal visitation. Friends may pay their respects between 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at Weaver Funeral Home.
Arrangements have been made with Weaver Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
