TDCI Chief of Staff/COO Jennifer Peck Will Serve Hamilton County as Circuit Court Judge

On Saturday, May 10, 2025, Jennifer Peck was sworn in as 11th Judicial District Circuit Court Judge by State of Tennessee Chief Operating Officer Brandon Gibson while Jennifer's husband T.J. Peck witnessed the ceremony.

Dear Tennessee Fire Service Professional:

Today I am writing to share the bittersweet news that TDCI Chief of Staff and COO Jennifer Peck was appointed on Friday by Governor Bill Lee to serve as a judge in the 11th Judicial District Circuit Court, which covers Hamilton County.

While at TDCI, Jennifer oversaw the State Fire Marshal's Office/Fire Prevention Division and the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy, among others and was dedicated to helping Tennessee firefighters and law enforcement officers in their mission to protect Tennesseans.

“I am proud to announce the appointment of Jennifer Peck and value the significant experience she will bring to Tennessee’s 11th Judicial District,” said Gov. Lee. “Jennifer has faithfully served Tennesseans during her tenure at the Department of Commerce and Insurance, and I am confident she will continue to serve with integrity.”

The appointment was effective immediately which meant that Jennifer was sworn in on Saturday morning by State of Tennessee Chief Operating Officer Brandon Gibson (and witnessed by Jennifer's husband T.J.), and Jennifer began her new role as a judge today.

While I am overjoyed for Jennifer's appointment, I know I am joining all of you in being sad to lose such a valued member of our leadership team. Jennifer prioritized people above herself and consistently showed a willingness to roll up her sleeves and work hard to solve problems. During her six years at TDCI, she set a standard that we all should follow. I know that she will take the same approach to serving on the bench where her faith and integrity will continue to shine in this new role serving her community.

Looking ahead, I will soon begin interviewing candidates so that we might seamlessly fill the vacancy created by Jennifer's departure. This is a very important role that is crucial to fire safety, codes enforcement, and law enforcement, and I am prioritizing finding the perfect fit for our team.

In conclusion, we wish Jennifer continued success in the years ahead, and we will always consider her to be an invaluable part of our team.

Best,

Carter Lawrence

TDCI Commissioner, State Fire Marshal
