MTAS is hosting Municipal Foundations on July 9, 2026 and Municipal Operations on July 10, 2026, from 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM Eastern Timeas a part of the Tennessee Municipal League's Annual Conference. This is a great opportunity to spend two days of professional development with your elected officials. MTAS is providing lunch and beverages for those that register in the EOA. 

Then stay for the weekend and participate in the TML Annual Conference. There will be many more professional development opportunities including two fire service related leadership presentations. We will finish the weekend with Public Entity Partners (PEP) reception on Sunday night.


Elected Officials Academy at TML

Municipal Foundations 

July 9 | 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. ET | Kingsport| $185 (invoiced to your municipality after attendance) 

This program familiarizes municipal elected officials with foundational aspects of municipal governance. Topics include forms of government, charters, ethics, public records, open meetings, effective meetings, and finance. 

Lunch and beverages provided. 

TBOUR-approved for 7.5 hours of utility training.

Municipal Operations 

July 10 | 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. ET | Kingsport | $185 (invoiced to your municipality after attendance) 

This program provides an overview of the responsibilities and oversight of the municipal elected board related to operational functions in municipalities. Topics include human resources, public works, fire services, and police services. 

Lunch and beverages provided. 

TBOUR-approved for 7.5 hours of utility training.
