TheArabic month of Dhul Qadah (ذُو ٱلْقَعْدَة) has arrived. It is one of the 4 sacred months of the Hijri year. Many significant historical events took place during this virtuous month, such as the Battle of Trench (i.e. Ahzab/Khandak), the truce of Hudaibiyah, and a lot more.

This evil tribe sent representatives to Quraish in Makkah, the Gatafan tribe, and their allies to convince them to join forces and attack Madinah as one united front. And they succeeded in their effort.

Going against Arab tradition, the Quraish prevented the Muslims from entering Makkah and performing Umrah. The Prophet ﷺ and his companions waited at Al Hudaibiyah. Rasulullah ﷺ sent Uthman (R) to negotiate with the Quraish.

He took precautions before entering Makkah. He stationed his troops outside of Makkah in case the Quraish had any ill intention of attacking them. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was performing Tawaf, his companions surrounded him from all directions to repel any possible attack.

After completing Tawaf and Umrah, he ﷺ instructed those near him to leave Makkah and make room for the ones posted outside. One group of believers moved out while another moved in, allowing all of them to complete their Umrah.

However, if he/she did not fast intentionally in Shawwal, then that person will not get the particular reward for fasting for 6 days in Shawwal. The fasts will be counted as normal voluntary fasts. For a detailed explanation, check out this link.

The sacred month of Dhul Qadah should be honoured. We should preserve its sanctity and learn about the historical incidents that happened during this month. May Allah bless our efforts and purify our intentions.

As we announced earlier this week, it is with a great pleasure to announce again that, by the grace of Allah SWT, ICOE (Bellevue Masjid) received a Temporary Certificate of Occupancy (TCO) on 3/4/2024 and we will be holding an Opening Ceremony for our beloved masjid on Thursday, March 7th at Isha salah time (7:45pm PST).

We invite you to join us for this momentous occasion, which will officially mark the commencement of opening for the Islamic Center of Eastside (ICOE) new masjid. For those who are new to the community, first floor (main floor) is dedicated for brothers and second floor for sisters.

With the grace and mercy of Allah, we have obtained a Temporary Certificate of Occupancy (TCO) for ICOE Masjid. This marks a significant step towards utilizing the facility for regular Salah. However, there are a few amendments required to attain final approval. Over the coming months, we will collaborate with the City to address these corrections.

We sincerely thank you for your patience and unwavering support throughout this process. Our aim is to inaugurate the masjid for regular Salah this week. Insha Allah, we also plan to hold Taraweeh prayers in the newly acquired ICOE facilities. Please expect an email today or tomorrow containing detailed information about the opening ceremony, parking arrangements, and guidelines for utilizing the masjid effectively.

What an incredible start to Term 2 it has been for Year 2. We have started this term working on the material world, creating robots made from all different types of materials. They loved this project and enjoyed exploring the different types of materials provided. In history we are looking at changes of technology and how it has changed over time. Most of the students were amazed by the progression of telephones. I am very pleased to say that Year 2 are working well together and are settling back to routine nicely.

Just a friendly reminder that homework is due every Friday followed with a spelling test in class. Also, this coming Wednesday will be school photos so please be mindful to have full school uniform on, there will be an update on class dojo of when sports will be on. For any further questions please feel free to contact me on class dojo.

Welcome back to Term 2! We are already halfway through the term, and we have been working hard. Year 3 and 4 have been completing a novel study on the BFG and we started creating our own giants. Our class has been doing a lot of group work, including creating posters about the different types of puppets and researching historic transport. We have been eagerly preparing for the Athletics Carnival, and realised how heavy a shotput feels in our hands.

The assessment schedule for this term has been sent out, please ensure your child attends school to be prepared for these assessments. It is especially important for your child to attend when we have assessments. Homework is to be returned each Friday for marking, but I understand if things come up, just contact me to let me know.

Year 5 have had an exciting start to Term 2 learning about some interesting topics in Science and History. For Science we are learning about the different states of matter and the students were able to make slime from scratch which they really enjoyed. In History this term, the Year 5 have been learning about the Gold Rush and are fascinated with this particular era and all that it encompasses.

Year 5 have also been learning about informative texts for English and have just commenced a deep dive in the learning about time in Maths. I am looking forward to finishing off this term strong with Year 5 and helping them get through this challenging but rewarding half yearly assessment period.
