Good morning to all participants,
Let me explain the logistic of how this manuscript will be submitted and hopefully published. I would like to be as much transparent as possible, so if you have questions, please ask me.

I am currently in contact with two PLoS Computational Biology editors: Philip E Bourne, editor and co-founder of the journal, and Lars Juhl Jensen, from the university of Copenhagen.

Lars and I are also involved in a paper that is being written to describe Biostar, an online question/answer community for bioinformatics. There has been a proposal to submit the Ten Simple Rules manuscript together with this latter manuscript on Biostar, to publish them in the same issue. I believe that this proposal can increase the chances of having both papers accepted; let me know if you disagree with this idea.

So, let's fix the other deadline. I can leave the wiki open for changes until this Sunday; at the end of this phase, I will pass it to Brandon and Kevin, who will proof-read it, and then to the editors, who will implement their changes and review it. After that process, I will contact you through this mailing list to know your opinion and, if there are major changes, repost the manuscript on WikiGenes. Then, hopefully the manuscript will be ready to be submitted. Please take into account that since we are proposing it as an editorial, the reviewing process for this manuscript will be different, and it is difficult to say how much time it will take.

Hi Giovanni Marco,

I am happy with your plan, thanks a lot.

About changing of the order of the rules proposed by Melanie: let's try it and then we have a look.

Cheers,

Jacopo.

Rules n.5 and 6 have been grouped together. Now we have 10 (simple) rules.

What do you think?

ok, it looks better. That rule was inspired by one of rules in Eric Raymond's "How to ask questions the smart way" about coding-related questions.

I have also swapped rule 8 and 9, as proposed in another mail.
