Good morning family. Just wanted to keep everyone updated on my father.

Since January, he has battled several conditions, shuttling between hospitals and rehabilitation centers. Most recently, the most troubling sign has been his loss of appetite and a resulting loss of weight, which has now led to the insertion of a feeding tube in his stomach.

Yesterday he went back into the hospital because of low blood pressure and “respiratory distress” brought on by an infection, most likely a result of the feeding tube procedure. As a result, he has been intubated and is in the ICU at Brooklyn hospital. The doctor described him as being in “critical condition” and on “life support." Despite restrictions on people coming into hospitals, Sharon, Kevin and I were allowed to see him, He was heavily sedated so he wasn’t able to respond verbally to us, but we were hoping he knew we were there,

We found out today that his blood pressure has returned to more acceptable levels, but the challenge going forward is to see if he can reach a point where he can survive without the respirator. The next few days will be used to determine that.

Thank you to everyone who has been reaching out. Sharon, Kevin and I feel the love. In the meantime, I’ll keep you updated.

Love,

Mark

hi 10-meners,
thanx for keeping all informed. v. g., may be "down. . . ," but, clearly, prayers and best-wishes from all of us who love and care for him, lo these many decades--in my case, seven--have kept "hope" alive, and have lent support to his present status, i.e.: ". . . but not out!!"
love and best to all,
"uncle" t. j.

As Unc Tommy said, he is down but not out! So glad you brought him over for Christmas party at Dad's house in December! In the midst of hom grumbling about everyone tugging and managing him, the Unc Vernon I know came out several times, for we (I mean him and I) had a special bond! Or I thought we did! LOL! But I got to joke with him and that old, crimpled mouth formed the familiar expressions of his youth! He is a special one in many ways! Unc Vernon is in my prayers and of course, my Ten men family stays in my heart! Kevin, Sharon and Mark, I hope you know that if you need anything, you just have to ask, for we are here always!! Sending love to all!🙏💙
