"CO2_Capture_ground" Emission Activity

Hi community,

In the Emission Activity table, the emission factor of "CO2_Capture_ground" is -1.

I was wondering if this number (-1) is the emission factor for the whole carbon capture (from whatever process either in cement, petroleum or other industrial processes) and its sequestration underground or -1 is the emission factor of just carbon capture excluding storage?

Hi Masha,

The technology CO2_Capture_ground is only affiliated with emissions from direct air capture, so there's no consideration of the process emissions. The associated efficiency in the efficiency table is for capturing 1 kt of CO2, so the emissions activity just says that for every unit of CO2_Capture_ground deployed, 1 kt of CO2 is removed from the atmosphere and sequestered.
