the 3 piece dashes with chrome trim are specific to the trim. on the two chrome dashes that i have, the bottom piece was actually made by cutting the lower section off, essentially creating an almost flat cover piece. the chrome trim was a combination of some chrome plated plastic pieces around both heater levers and a chrome ashtray in-line with the trim and a chrome piece across the glove box which was also specific to this dash, as far as i can tell. these dashes were on very early US market cars only and on Euro market cars until much later. All ti's had them.

So if my car is euro and fab. nov 1970 there is a possibility I had that trim? Thing is the previous owner lost the original dashboard and replaced it with a 1 piece that's almost crack free but I wanted to go back to the original.

If it is a European delivered car from early '70 it could easily have had the chrome dash. I don't think I have seen any US cars that had it after Dec '67. Every one I have seen here in the US, chrome dash=1967 and given they did not bring the 2002 in until 1968 I don't think I have ever seen a US 2002 with a chrome dash. A friend here in Seattle has one of the first 2002s brought into the US and used in for the press introductions and it is a non chrome dash.

US '66-67 production all had chrome lower three piece dashes. That includes Sept-Dec '67 production '68 model year cars. '68 model year US cars got the hazard switch located to the left side of the instrument cluster. Most '67 cars had the hazard switch in one of the driver side under dash panels or in a switch pod on the under side of the steering column.

The under dash panels for the chrome dashes were different than those of later padded dashes. They were vinyl covered and padded shaped cardboard rather than black colored flat cardboard of the padded dash cars.

The US cars got the padded lower dashes for Jan '68 and later production. US padded lower three piece dashes until the model '71 mid '71 changeover at which they became two piece padded. At this time US hazard switches moved to the red button in the center console to the left of the ash tray. Late '71 to early '72 got seatbelt warning pods atop the two piece dashes. US square light cars all had one piece dashes.

All Euro '02s had chrome lower three piece dashes until the model '71 changeover. Euro hazard switches for chrome lower dashes were placed like those in the US '67 dashes. They were then two piece until model '73 (square light) when the dashes became one piece. No Euro '02s had seatbelt/emissions warning pods atop their dashes...

Fix your 07-13 Silverado LS/LT/Work Truck or Sierra SL/SLE/Work Truck dashboard with a molded plastic dash cover from DashSkin! This cover is molded to the exact shape of your vehicle's dashboard, and mounts right over the top to cover cracks and holes. The cover spans both halves of the two-piece dashboard as one solid piece, making the finished product super stealthy and hard to detect for passengers. The cover requires no special tools to install, and mounts using silicone adhesive (included). The workmanship of the cover is warranted for life against cracking, warping, etc. DashSkins even work great with large pieces of dash missing, as long as there is enough dashboard left on all edges (perimeter) to serve as a stable and level foundation for the cover. If you have cracks you will be covering, we advise cleaning your original dashboard well with degreaser, and bracing any cracks using 100% silicone RTV adhesive to prevent further cracking or rattling. (scroll down to purchase an extra tube if you need it for lots of cracks in your dash, or if you have holes you'd like to outline with adhesive). IMPORTANT: THIS COVER ONLY FITS CERTAIN TRIM PACAKGES OF SILVERADO AND SIERRA TRUCKS! It is compatible with 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013 Silverado LS, LT, and Work Truck trims, and 07-13 Sierra SL, SLE, and Work Truck trims (in other words, only fits DUAL GLOVEBOX style dashes). If you have a Silverado LTZ or Sierra SLT/Denali, check out our part numbers 0714GM and 0714GMS.

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO PIECE KIT AND THE ONE PIECE DASH COVER?
Our one-piece design is ideal for customers looking for the stealthiest, most seamless possible finished product. The one-piece blends in a little better since it lacks the gap between the two pieces, and it can be used in situations where you are missing more of your dash and have holes to cover. The two piece kit on the other hand allows for easy removal of the front defrost section (to replace the ambient light sensor). When in doubt, go with the one piece! You won't regret it, as it is quicker to install, a little more cost effective, and looks killer all said and done!

HOW TO HELP STOP ANNOYING RATTLES: If your dash is rattling or sqeaking, using EXTRA silicone adhesive in all of the cracks can help make a huge difference! Apply the first tube of silicone that is included with the cover to the underside of the skin just like the instructions specify, then use your extra adhesive (purchased from us or at any hardware store, 100% silicone RTV adhesive) to apply directly to the dash itself to fill all cracks with a thick bead of silicone, and outline any holes (if you have holes) with the silicone just before installing the cover. We don't recommend allowing this to cure first, apply the skin while all of silicone on the cracks is still wet so the cracks bond to the underside of the skin, this way the cover can help hold everything still like a membrane of support. If you have rattles coming from underneath the dash, obviously this surface treatment will not help stop those noises, but for the vast majority of our local installs, this little trick works extremely well! NOTE: If the clips under your defrost dash panel (nearest the windshield) are broken, be sure to consider applying some silicone to the broken clips as well to hold that piece still, this can be a hidden source of rattles as well.

2. FACTORY MATCHED COLORS - Our colors are OE-matched for a sleek, factory looking finish. Sometimes our matches can land a little lighter or a little darker than your dash depending on fade, but you can count on it being close enough to blend in so well that your passengers won't notice it's there!

3. VEHICLE-SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS - All of our products include vehicle-specific color instruction guides that cover every step of the process in great detail. Most of our catalog also has full length install videos as well!

4. KNOWLEDGEABLE AMERICAN SUPPORT - A real life American human is just a phone call, text, or email away to assist with any and all questions you might have about your project! Just click the Contact Seller button as if you wish to send us a message, and eBay will display our phone number to the bottom right of the text box.

5. SUPPORT AMERICAN MANUFACTURING - 100% of our research, development and manufacturing takes place in the UNITED STATES, and we are committed to keeping it that way! We hope you will consider this when deciding where to send your hard-earned money. America's manufacturing base evaporates a little more each day thanks to the race-to-the-bottom mentality of overseas manufacturers, and the power to stop that problem lies only in the hands of you, the buyer.

We are passionate about producing a high quality product that solves an expensive problem for everyday drivers, and hope you will contact us if you have any questions. Thank you for taking the time to read this!

40F is the coldest recommended temperature, our adhesives will not fully harden in temps below this. Remember to allow for additional cure time (up to 12 hours) for installing in temperatures this low! Our 100% silicone RTV adhesive uses ambient humidity in the air to cure, so the colder and drier the air is, the more time the silicone will need to fully harden.

The benefits of using the one piece cover are that there are fewer seams for your eyes to catch, making it blend in better and look a little more factory-original, and being a unibody design makes it structurally more rigid and usable in situations where you are missing bigger sections of dash. The two piece kit allows for removal of the smaller front defrost section (to replace the light sensor) without having to take the dash covers off of the dash, which for some is a huge selling point; but bear in mind since there IS a small gap between the two pieces, any cracks you may have where the gap is might be visible, so if you have lots of cracks or holes, the one piece is definitely the way to go.

NO. DashSkin is a rigid, molded plastic dash cover meant to install OVER your old dash to cover cracks and holes. While you can use a DashSkin with a lot of your dash missing, the product cannot be used in place of a dash, as it needs structure to mount to.
