PIXMA G6020. Yesterday, 4/21, printing with no problems. Today, 4/22, cannot print from the cassette. I have ensured all settings are correct, etc. etc. How ridiculous. I'm trying to work from home and this is creating serious problems for me.
Check the settings in your printer dialog box when you print. Some computers (especially Macs, I think) have an option to "use previous settings" or something like that. If that box is checked and you have previously used the rear tray, then it will always try to use that tray.
The setting may be somewhat buried, especially if you are using Google Docs. You may need to go beyond the Google Docs print settings dialog box and get to the Operating System dialog box before you can access the functions.
I had to call Asurion Tech Support (which I purchased with this printer) to get this answer. After loading paper into the cassette tray, ALSO put one piece of paper in the rear tray. Then print from your computer. VOILA! Because OK was pressed after loading paper into cassette tray it prints from the cassette tray. The piece of paper in the rear tray just tells the printer that set-up is complete. How silly is this??? VERY SILLY! But it works.
I had a similar issue. When I tried to copy at the printer, it would give me a 2114 error because there was no paper in the rear tray. I tried to force it to use the cassette, using the copy settings from the printer control panel, but the only options available were *Auto and Rear Tray.
Last week my canon professional print and layout software just stopped sending my images to print. I keep getting the error " Error - please check the printer's operational panel or remote UI" in the print job screen (see image below).
I had the same issue and after calling Canon support and walking through it the tech found the issue. My ISP swapped out my router a few weeks ago and the IP address space on my network changed. PPL was still trying to send using the old IP address of the printer. So when it adds the printer, whatever IP address it has sticks so you have to manually add it again using the new one.
Thanks for replying, ncsamiam. It does look as though PPL is looking to the wrong IP address. It won't allow me to remove the current printer, or add a new one however. Nothing's changed on my system that I'm aware of, so this is kind of perplexing.
So I'll have to keep trying to get through to someone at the support number. I tried again this morning, however had to give up after almost 30 minutes of listening to 60s era mellow jazz hold music. Will try again later.
Yes it won't allow you to remove all the printers in the list. When I told it to add printer, I selected "Auto" and it immediately showed it to me, albiet with a different name, and when the new entry was added I was then able to delete the old entry. If you change from Auto you can give it a specific IP address to look for it. Maybe try that if you haven't already. And good luck.. I put them on hold and just left the speaker phone on while I worked on other stuff. Odd music selection, I must say.
So PPL is once again working, after finding the correct IP for the printer, which was somehow different than when I originally installed the software. I may never know what happened, but at least now I know how to correct the problem.
I faced the same issue. What is happening is that the Software Professional Print and Lay Out (PPLO) is looking for the old printer which you can see in the tab Printer (just below stored settings on the right hand side). If you click on the printer tab, you will see two options -"Add Printer" and "Delete Printer". Press "Add printer" and select your Cannon Printer once again. Once it is registered, Delete the old one. You should be able to use PPLO software.
This was my issue - for some reason the IP address of my Canon Pro-300 had been changed (presumably by my router). I followed your instructions above it it all started working again - thank you so much for posting this solution!
We want to start printing our orders instead of handwriting them. We have multiple wireless ipads using point of sale app and want to be able to print the orders to one printer in the kitchen. Is that possible?
I don't have experience with kitchen printers, so if this is wrong Square can correct me, but I have ethernet thermal receipt printers (not USB printers attached to a Square stand) and I have a dozen phones and iPads that can print to one printer. I think the kitchen printers are the same networked devices that can be seen by many devices, and if they aren't an ethernet receipt printer will for sure work. The kitchen printers are impact printers vs the thermal printers used at a cashier station.
I was wondering if you could help me? I have tried to set up my printer to both iPads. When I set it up on one iPad it is discoverable to the printer from that iPad but it is not discoverable from the other iPad when I try and set it up on the other iPad it is no longer discoverable on the first. They are both on the same Internet connection I have labeled all my categories and directed them to the right printer I cannot get them to print from both iPads simultaneously
Everywhere that I have researched says that the bluetooth only supports one device at a time, but ethernet wireless you can run more. unfortunately, the bluetooth printers I purchased does not also have the ethernet connection. I am thinking I have to return those and get one that has both bluetooth and ethernet or just ethernet. I was trying not to run wires everywhere, as we have 2 registers and 5 printers, 3 of which I need to print from both registers (preferably wirelessly) to prep stations, and 2 of which are at the register for recipts (wired).
Apologies for not clarifying the type of connection your printers have. I assumed they were ethernet. You're right, while ethernet printers can connect to multiple POS devices, Bluetooth printers only allow one device to be connected.
Hi, i have a full service restaurant. I have already an ipad with the square emv, nfc reader. i want to buy an additional square stand and have a kitchen printer. can i have the square stand and the separate ipad connected at the same time with the printer in the kitchen? can i submit orders in any device and can go directly to the kitchen with any problem?
I have merged your post to an existing one that talks about connecting multiple iPads to one kitchen printer, but the steps for the iPad and the Square Register are almost identical. As long as your kitchen printer and Square Registers are all on the same wifi network, you will need to just connect them via "Create Printer Station" in Settings.
I've merged your post with this thread discussing the connection of multiple tablets to one kitchen printer. It's mostly related to iPads, but the setup should be relatively the same if you're using an ethernet printer with the tablets connecting to it via WiFi.
For some people, the shared printer from universal printing stops working - no apparent reason.
Removing the printer and adding it again has helped - for a while. But on my surface pro, for example - You remove the printer, but it still shows up as being installed when you search to install it again.
Whatever you do, the work or school search shows the deleted printer is still installed, so it is impossible to add it again.
To get around that, I previously created a new printer, but it isn't a good solution. Anyone experienced a similar thing?
Hello,
I stopped using Microsoft's deployment methods to automatically install printers via universal print.
That is when things would get messed up - unable to uninstall printers and reinstall them, printer would stop working and be unremovable.
One caveat - if there is a printer which is already in a state where its not installed, but adding it shows that its already installed, then it will need to be cleaned-up and Microsoft support can help with that.
The issue is that the printers are in a partially installed state. Go to Settings -> Bluetooth and Devices -> Devices (not Printers) and you should see the printers listed there. Remove them there and restart the system. You should now be able to re-install the printer.
Thanks for your input, That is an easy fix and easily done, it was the first thing I tried. With support we had to run some tools, disable all the intune security and modify the registry to remove the printers. Support have no idea why the printers stop working. @Philip_Demaree
Dear @m_nicholls, Might I ask you what Registry hacks you have performed? I'm experiencing the issue at my company as well in where the printer shows that it's installed but cannot be selected upon trying to send a document to a printer. Regardless of the application. Removing the printer is impossible, either via the Device Manager or Printers and Devices. Leaving me with no choice but to open up an incident.
The Device Manager does not show the printer. The old environment of Printers and Devices shows that the Printer has been categorized as a Cloud Printer with the Status: Driver is Unavailable. It's also set below "Unspecified" devices.
It has been rather though getting through the first-line employees at Microsoft and they are not being helpful. I believe I've had 4 engineers so far and I'm at my wit's end. Hence my question. Can you explain to me in what location you had removed the Universal Print Registry keys that allowed you to make the printer installable again? That would be much appreciated.
Possibly the black cartridge is low, if so replace (see **). Have you checked the ink levels? (see ##) Are you using genuine HP original (not refilled) ink? Cartridge may be defective. Does this occur after a recent new ink cartridge installation? Have you tried removing and reinstalling several times? How old is the printer, it could be wearing out.
Probably you haven,t updated the printer's software on your computer, recently. It seems odd, but that could be the problem. In the following link, click on software and drivers, click Go, click download. It will provide the most recent software. Are you wireless or wired connection?
